PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kazu Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazu Nakamura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Brown!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nakamura shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Brown looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Nakamura is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brown defends it well.
Nakamura lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Nakamura is pressing down on Brown's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brown is holding on for now.

Nakamura seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brown does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nakamura looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brown with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Nakamura lands a nice short elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nakamura thows a huge punch but Brown dodges it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Nakamura dives in and grabs Brown's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes down on Nakamura's head and hops out.
Nakamura shoots for a takedown but Brown saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nakamura shoots in but Brown avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kazu Nakamura. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nakamura dives in and grabs Brown's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes down on Nakamura's head and hops out.

Nakamura shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brown sprawls well. Brown wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nakamura gets slowly back to his feet.

Nakamura has Brown pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Brown manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Nakamura has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Brown avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nakamura is looking to control Brown's arms but Brown gets an underhook and turns him. Now Nakamura has his back to the cage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Brown will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Kazu Nakamura wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Nakamura shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brown as he jumps to the side.
Nakamura shoots in for a double leg but Brown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Nakamura shoots in looking for a takedown. Brown tries to sprawl out of it but Nakamura keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jack Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Brown throws a nice looking combination but Nakamura bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Nakamura shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brown as he avoids it easily.

and Nakamura counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Brown's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nakamura is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kazu Nakamura just wasn't active enough.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nakamura looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jack Brown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Nakamura has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
