Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Jaffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Poyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jaffer might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to DubRaider- Starry Eyes. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Jaffer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corey Poyer! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jaffer connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Jaffer swings and misses with a shot to the body and Poyer counters with a nice uppercut. Poyer closes the distance and pushes Jaffer back into the cage. Poyer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jaffer smiles and moves away.
Jaffer avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jaffer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Poyer rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Poyer chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jaffer can pounce on him.
Jaffer thows a left - swing and a miss! Jaffer lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Jaffer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Poyer to the ground. Jaffer is now in Poyer's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jaffer stopping the sweep attempt from Poyer. Jaffer trying to control the position from guard on top but Poyer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jaffer chips away with some ground and pound. Jaffer wants to control from the top but Poyer keeps moving. Poyer is looking to stand up but Jaffer isn't so interested in that idea. Poyer working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jaffer. Jaffer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Jaffer passes into half guard. Jaffer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Poyer defending well though. Jaffer thows a huge punch but Poyer dodges it nicely.
Jaffer not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jaffer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Jaffer prevents Poyer from improving his position. Poyer is refusing to be controlled, as Jaffer sits in half guard. Jaffer sitting and controlling from the half guard. Poyer tries to kick Jaffer off but Jaffer keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Jaffer is nestled in close to Poyer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Jaffer takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Jaffer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. This has been an exciting period of action! Poyer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jaffer. Poyer wants to improve his position but Jaffer is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Poyer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jaffer. Jaffer lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Jaffer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Jaffer is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Poyer reverses the position - he's now on top in Jaffer's guard. Poyer tries to stand but Jaffer is controlling from the bottom. Jaffer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jaffer tries to get out of the position. Jaffer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jaffer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jaffer lands a big shot there that rocks Poyer but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Jaffer raining down hammerfists from mount. Jaffer fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Poyer is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Oooooh, big shot lands for Jaffer! Poyer is hurt baaadly! Jaffer is firing away with more strikes - Poyer is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Jaffer! James Jaffer was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
