The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Hall. Rodriguez is looking for a sweep. Rodriguez struggling a bit here. Rodriguez is looking for a sweep. Hall controlling the position. Rodriguez is looking for a sweep. Rodriguez is working hard here to advance position. Rodriguez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hall's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hall tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Hall perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Rodriguez wants to improve his position but Hall is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rodriguez misses with a takedown and Hall decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rodriguez's guard. Hall looks gassed! Rodriguez lands some strikes from the bottom. Hall controlling from the top position. Rodriguez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hall is trying to reverse the position but instead Rodriguez has taken his back - oops! Hall is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Rodriguez off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Rodriguez is looking to control Hall but Hall is wriggling around and keeping busy. The referee is taking a good look at Hall as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Rodriguez!
Rodriguez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hall has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Hall is trying to stand back up. Hall covering up well under a series of strikes from Rodriguez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hall covering up well and avoiding damage. Rodriguez is looking for the choke from the back position but Hall is controlling his hands well. Hall covering up well under a barage of strikes. Hall wants to get back to his feet. Hall tries to escape the position.
Rodriguez throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Hall has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Rodriguez. Rodriguez is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rodriguez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hall decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rodriguez's guard. Hall decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rodriguez, up you get! Rodriguez misses with a takedown attempt and Hall counters with a takedown into side control. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steven Rodriguez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hall just content to control the position. Rodriguez is looking to reverse the position. Hall decides to stand back up. Hall changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rodriguez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rodriguez is trying to control Hall's posture but Hall avoids it. Rodriguez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Hall prevents Rodriguez from improving his position. Rodriguez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hall's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hall's back! Rodriguez is hanging on to Hall's back as he tries to escape.
Rodriguez is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hall is defending well though. Rodriguez let's go of the attempt for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez connects with a big shot to the side of Hall's head.

Rodriguez lands punches and elbows. Rodriguez working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Hall is doing well to defend. Rodriguez seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Hall is forced to tap and this one is over!
