Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lyotinho Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Carvol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Carvol is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Max Carvol!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvol misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Carvol drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Carvol trying to control the position from guard on top but Machida is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Machida will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carvol slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carvol is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Machida will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

It looks like Carvol might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Machida keeping moving, preventing Carvol from controlling successfully.
Carvol stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Machida swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Max Carvol wasn't active enough on the ground.

Machida wants to get back to striking at distance but Carvol won't allow it.

Machida feints a jab promting Carvol to slip. Machida then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Carvol slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Machida is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Carvol shoots in looking for a takedown. Machida tries to sprawl out of it but Carvol keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Machida manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Carvol avoids a kick to the body.
Machida keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Carvol drops his hands momentarily and Machida takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A left and a right from Machida both land. Nice combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Machida darts in and clinches Carvol up against the cage.
Carvol has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Machida is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Machida can't break the clinch.
Carvol is working for takedown but Machida is calmly controlling the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Max Carvol will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Carvol closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Carvol has an Americana. Machida didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Carvol is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Carvol hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
