The crowd seem to be enjoying Meadows's choice of entrance music: Punky's Whips. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

15 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Edwin Meadows! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meadows is looking to clinch but Reese is avoiding it.

That was a close round but I would say that Kyle Reese will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reese connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Meadows some visible discomfort.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Meadows is looking to advance position but Reese won't allow it. Reese tries to roll over but Meadows keeps him under control. Reese avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Meadows. Reese is staying active underneath Meadows, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Meadows prevents Reese from improving his position. Reese is not content to let Meadows control the position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Reese tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Reese is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Reese can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Meadows controls the pace. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Reese lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Meadows! Reese moves away and avoids it. A decent looking cross lands there for Meadows. Meadows looks to land a right hand but Reese moved out of range. Reese walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Edwin Meadows seems to be getting the better of the standup. Meadows misses with a straight right. Reese misses with a leg kick. Reese with a lazy takedown attempt and Reese takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Meadows swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round. Reese ducks under a wild hook from Meadows. Reese is looking to slow Meadows down with leg kicks. Reese goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Meadows throws a right and a left that Reese avoids nicely. Reese tries to close the distance and clinch but Meadows swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Meadows blocks a low kick nicely. Meadows tries to clinch but Reese moves out of range. Reese fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Meadows manages to avoid it. Reese with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Meadows pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Reese throws a leg kick which misses Meadows's front leg but catches the back leg as Meadows tries to avoid it. Meadows lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Meadows sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Reese scores with a three punch combo!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Reese shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Meadows is trying to defend but Reese finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Meadows takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Reese is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Meadows! Meadows tries to hold on but Reese pushes him away. Meadows is in a horrible position here. Reese smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Meadows tries to roll over but Reese keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Meadows on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Reese is thwarting Meadows's attempts to control the position. Edwin Meadows has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Reese lands a nice short elbow. Meadows is pressing down on Reese's left leg trying to get back to full guard.
