Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drake shoots in and bounces Jones off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Drake wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Drake won't allow Jones to sweep him here. Jones has his hands on Drake's head, controlling the position. Drake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard. Drake is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy. Drake wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Drake stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drake wants to stand but Jones has his arm trapped. Drake is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Jones wants to control but Drake postures up. Jones manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Drake is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard. Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drake tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control. Drake wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it. Drake is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
Drake is not content to let Jones control the position. Jones is taking a breather. Drake says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Jones trying to control from half guard but Drake is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Jones lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Drake sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Jones is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Drake! Drake wants to hold on but Jones pushes him away. Jones connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Drake is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Jones lands a nice shot to the head. Jones lands a heavy elbow. Jones controlling the pace for now. Drake is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Jones tries to control but Drake wriggling away. Drake is looking to get to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones looking to control but Drake is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drake is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jones's half guard. Drake wants to stand but Jones has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Jones makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jones. Drake wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Drake tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard. Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Drake got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Drake has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted. Drake being controlled here momentarily. Cody Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Drake drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Drake has Jones in his guard. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Drake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones wants to pass the guard but Drake is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drake working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Drake doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Drake is keeping the position. Jones advances to half guard. Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Drake is looking for a sweep. Jones is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jones trying to control the action but Drake is working from the bottom. Jones works his way into side control. Drake prevents Jones from improving position. Drake is pushing Jones's head away, looking to escape. Jones manages to hold on to the position though. Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Drake knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jones is looking to take a break and control but Drake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jones tries to advance to mount but can't. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Drake gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Drake drives through with a takedown into Jones's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Drake wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Drake is retaining full guard. Drake has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Drake escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Drake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones landing with the ground and pound. Jones stands and throws Drake's legs to the side, diving into side control. Drake is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Jones is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Jones pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Jones is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Drake has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Drake takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jones unloading with bombs! Ryan Drake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jones is trying to take his opponent's back.
Jones cracks Drake with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jones lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Drake hang on? Jones lands a big shot there that rocks Drake but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Cody Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Drake is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is in the full mount, landing strikes. Jones is landing with some decent strikes but Drake is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Drake is rocked! Drake defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Jones. Drake is still in real trouble! Can Jones finish him? Jones cracks Drake with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

And that's the end of the fight! Cody Jones showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
