PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Trejo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Tupper Vi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trejo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dire Straits- Six Blade Knife. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bobby Tupper Vi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Trejo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Tupper Vi!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tupper Vi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Trejo's waist but Trejo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tupper Vi off to one side.
Tupper Vi shoots in but Trejo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Both fighters circling a little - Trejo finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Trejo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tupper Vi, pushing him back against the cage.

It looks like Bobby Tupper Vi has been cut.
Tupper Vi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Trejo just stands there and leans against the cage.
Danny Trejo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Tupper Vi.

Trejo breaks the clinch.
Trejo scoring well with a low kick there.
Tupper Vi looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Trejo moves into the clinch.
Tupper Vi is trying to pull guard but Trejo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Trejo jumps into guard, dragging Tupper Vi to the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Trejo has Tupper Vi pulled in close to control his posture.
Tupper Vi is looking to work some ground and pound but Trejo has wrist control.
Trejo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Trejo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Tupper Vi controls from within his opponent's guard.
Trejo is looking to stand up but Tupper Vi isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Danny Trejo.

Trejo drops Tupper Vi with a beautiful combination! Tupper Vi stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Trejo is looking for the KO!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Trejo gets a clinch.

Trejo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Trejo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tupper Vi quickly recovers to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Danny Trejo wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Tupper Vi misses with a hook. Trejo ducked under it nicely.

Trejo works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Trejo moves into the clinch successfully.

Trejo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tupper Vi uses from the top position.
Trejo seems keen to control Tupper Vi's posture.

Tupper Vi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Trejo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Trejo has escaped and now he's on top!

Tupper Vi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Trejo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Trejo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Trejo won't allow Tupper Vi to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Trejo prevents Tupper Vi from getting the reversal.
Trejo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Tupper Vi tries to improve his position but instead Trejo has taken his back!
Danny Trejo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Trejo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tupper Vi on the ground.

Trejo stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Tupper Vi shoots in looking for a takedown but Trejo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tupper Vi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Trejo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tupper Vi can do to turn this around?
Trejo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Trejo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Trejo closes the distance and clinches.

Trejo gets control of Tupper Vi's arms and successfully pulls guard. Trejo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Tupper Vi throws a strike but Trejo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Danny Trejo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Tupper Vi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Trejo has Tupper Vi pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Trejo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Tupper Vi tumbling to the mat - Trejo dives into Tupper Vi's guard.
Trejo passes Tupper Vi's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tupper Vi flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Trejo passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Tupper Vi!

Bobby Tupper Vi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Danny Trejo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Trejo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
