Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wolfgang Van Beethoven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Webcke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Beethoven comes to the cage accompanied by Beethoven-Symphony 7. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wolfgang Van Beethoven ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Webcke! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice uppercut lands for Webcke. That snapped Van Beethoven 's head back.
Shane Webcke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Beethoven lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Van Beethoven moves out of range of the strikes. Webcke looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Van Beethoven keeping moving, preventing Webcke from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Webcke with a flurry of punches that miss. Webcke being controlled here momentarily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Webcke throwing strikes but missing. Webcke scoring with some ground and pound. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Van Beethoven is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Webcke trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Van Beethoven looking for a sweep. Not yet Van Beethoven , not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Webcke wants to control from the top but Van Beethoven keeps moving. Van Beethoven wants to stand and escape but Webcke is having none of it. Webcke throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Webcke throws a strike but Van Beethoven rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Van Beethoven won't allow Webcke to sweep him here. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Webcke can do anything to dispel that myth. Webcke is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Van Beethoven defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Van Beethoven wants to stand and escape but instead Webcke has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Webcke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Van Beethoven is keeping the position for now. Webcke trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Beethoven is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Van Beethoven is trying to keep Webcke in close.
Webcke throws a big elbow that misses. Van Beethoven has momentary wrist control but Webcke slips an elbow through the middle. This has been an exciting period of action! Van Beethoven trying to keep a closed guard but Webcke is proving a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Webcke scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Webcke distracts Van Beethoven with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Webcke postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Webcke passes into half guard. Webcke drops an elbow to the side of Van Beethoven 's head. Webcke is pressing down on Van Beethoven 's thigh, looking to free his foot. Van Beethoven is holding on for now. Webcke working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Webcke passes to side control. Van Beethoven is trying to improve his position. Webcke creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Van Beethoven on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Van Beethoven is not content to let Webcke control the position. Van Beethoven tries to buck Webcke off but Webcke is having none of it. Webcke is looking to take a break and control but Van Beethoven is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Webcke creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Webcke scores with a couple of short elbows.
It looks like Wolfgang Van Beethoven has been cut. Webcke lands a strong strike to the head of Van Beethoven . That's dazed him! Webcke looking to finish here. Van Beethoven is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Webcke lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
