Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Julius Caesar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karl Kunnas! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kunnas throws a jab when Caesar was well out of range. Caesar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kunnas counters with a lovely straight right hand! Caesar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kunnas was covering up waiting for the punch and Caesar finishes the takedown easily into guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Kunnas keeping full guard, as Caesar tries to pass. Caesar's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Julius Caesar just wasn't active enough. Caesar slips a jab from Kunnas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caesar slips a jab from Kunnas. Caesar slips a jab from Kunnas. Kunnas throws a lazy right hand but Caesar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Kunnas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Caesar moves away. A big left from Kunnas misses. Caesar looks for a takedown but Kunnas sprawls well. Caesar ducks under a wild hook from Kunnas. No luck with that takedown attempt from Caesar. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julius Caesar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Caesar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Kunnas throws an off balance right hand
and Caesar counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Kunnas just misses with a punch to the body.
Karl Kunnas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Caesar. Kunnas scores with a punch to the head. Kunnas lands a body shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kunnas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Caesar to score an easy takedown into full guard. Caesar is breathing heavily. Caesar trying to control the position from guard on top but Kunnas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kunnas is trying to control the position but Caesar postures up. Kunnas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Caesar controls the pace. Kunnas pulls Caesar in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kunnas misses with a right hand and Caesar counters with a single leg into guard. Kunnas didn't expect that. Kunnas controlling Caesar's posture. Caesar works a leg free and moves into half guard. Kunnas pushes Caesar off looking to stand but Caesar dives back in and keeps control.
Kunnas is trying to control but can't.
Caesar controlling the action here. Kunnas tries to get to full guard but Caesar has control of the leg. Still in half guard, Caesar seems content to control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kunnas can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Julius Caesar. Kunnas throws a hook to the side of Caesar's head but Caesar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kunnas stuffs the takedown attempt from Caesar. Caesar gets slowly back to his feet. Kunnas misses with a body shot.
Kunnas is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Caesar. Caesar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Kunnas lands a two punch combo.

and Caesar moves into the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kunnas. Caesar lands a takedown into guard.
Kunnas working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Caesar. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Karl Kunnas will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Caesar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kunnas is fending him off so far but Caesar persists. Nope, Kunnas circles away and we're back to standing. Kunnas misses with a body shot.

and Caesar counters with a shoot takedown. Kunnas fights it but they end up in guard. Kunnas keeping moving, preventing Caesar from controlling successfully. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Caesar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Caesar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Caesar won't allow Kunnas to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Kunnas is not content to let Caesar control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kunnas tries to roll over but Caesar keeps him under control. Caesar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Still in half guard, Caesar seems content to control. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Kunnas is staying active underneath Caesar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kunnas misses with a left hand and Caesar counters with a series of strikes. Kunnas will be more careful next time no doubt. Kunnas connects with the punch. The fighters circling - Kunnas throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Kunnas throws a body punch but Caesar moves out of range. Caesar takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Caesar shoots in looking for a takedown but Kunnas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Caesar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kunnas throws out a powerful jab. Julius Caesar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Caesar staying out of range there. Caesar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kunnas defends it nicely. Kunnas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kunnas connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Kunnas listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Karl Kunnas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Kunnas misses with a left hand and Caesar counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kunnas! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Kunnas can't escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caesar looking to control but Kunnas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Kunnas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Caesar controlling the position easily from mount. Caesar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kunnas is looking to escape. Kunnas is desperately trying to improve his position but Caesar has a good base and remains in mount. Kunnas tries to hold on but Caesar pushes him away.

Caesar wants to control the pace but Kunnas is squirming around nicely. Caesar throws some wild stikes that Kunnas manages to avoid easily.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Caesar thowing shots but they're missing. Julius Caesar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Karl Kunnas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Caesar won't let Kunnas get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
