Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mikio Okita! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lorenzo Dorian! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dorian misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Okita decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Okita passes to side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dorian manages to work his way to half guard, despite Okita's best efforts. Okita frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Dorian is looking to improve his position but Okita isn't that keen on the idea. Okita wants to finish this one by submission but Dorian is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Okita. Okita working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Dorian bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Dorian drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dorian jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Okita is looking for a triangle but Dorian pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dorian slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Dorian tries for a kimura but Okita is defending well. Okita sneaks back into half guard. Dorian trying to mount his opponent but Okita defends it. Okita trying to control but Dorian postures up.
Okita wants to get back to full guard. Okita looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Okita moves into full guard.
Dorian trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Dorian misses with a takedown and Okita counters with a takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dorian looks gassed! You can see the frustration on Dorian's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Okita has hold of Dorian's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Dorian seems comfortable defending it but Okita has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Dorian is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Dorian is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Okita couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mikio Okita! Mikio Okita retains his middleweight title!
