The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes takes one to the chin there.
It looks like Peter Hughes has been cut.
Some wild striking there from Jecht.
Hughes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jecht counters with a nice double leg into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Jecht has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hughes pushes Jecht away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jecht gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hughes is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jecht asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Jecht cracks Hughes with an elbow. That is naaassty.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Peter Hughes's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
