Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liu Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kang comes into the arena with Mortal kombat theme blaring out of the sound system. Ross has chosen Slaughterhouse-Sound Off as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Liu Kang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ronnie Ross! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kang throws a body punch but Ross moves out of range. Kang drives through and clinches with Ross against the cage.
Ross tries to land knees in the clinch but Kang avoids the damage to the body. Ross trying to stall but Kang improves his position.
Kang on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Ross with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Ross pressing his opponent against the cage. Ross is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kang is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ross to the mat. Ross regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Ross wants to get back to his feet but Kang is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Kang wants to control from the top but Ross keeps moving. Kang postures up in Ross's guard and throws a big left but Ross blocks it. Ross is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kang loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kang stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ross swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ross keeping moving, preventing Kang from controlling successfully. Kang tries to free his leg and advance position but Ross is retaining full guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ross scores with a punch to the head. Ross throws a hook to the side of Kang's head but Kang sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ross throws a body punch but Kang moves out of range. Kang staying out of range there. Ross tries to clinch but Kang moves away and Kang counters with a single leg into guard. Ross didn't expect that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kang thows a big elbow that misses. Kang won't allow Ross to get back to his feet. Ross looks gassed! Kang postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kang sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ross's guard. Ross wants to get back to his feet. Kang missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Kang throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Kang sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ross defending well though.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. The fighters circling - Ross throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Kang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ross.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Kang. Kang tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ross takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kang scoring with punches from side control. Kang lands a decent elbow from side control. Kang misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Kang postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kang cracks Ross with a big elbow. Ross defending against the ground and pound. Kang working the head and body with strikes. Ross pushes Kang away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kang gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Kang is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ross will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Ross wants to control but Kang postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Liu Kang dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Ross connects with a crisp jab. Ross tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kang counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Ross tries to kick Kang off but Kang keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Kang is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Kang has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kang trying to control but Ross is working from the bottom. Kang won't allow Ross to get back to his feet. Ross pushes Kang off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Ross fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ross tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Ross takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ross pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Ross fails in his attempt to clinch. Ross has his takedown stuffed and Kang counters with a straight right hand. Ross is breathing heavily. Kang throws a sloppy body shot
and Ross counters with a flying knee. Nice. A swing and a miss from Ross. Ross closes the distance but Kang moves to the side and Kang counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Kang rushes Ross and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Ross lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Ross has a couple of punches blocked by Kang.
Kang turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kang manages to end up in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kang laying and praying for a moment but Ross takes advantage and regains half guard. Ross won't allow Kang to pass to mount. Kang sitting and controlling from the half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kang is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kang lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Ross won't allow Kang to pass to mount. Ross is staying active underneath Kang, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kang prevents Ross from standing back up.
Kang throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Ross on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kang thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ross's head. Ross is looking to escape. Kang trying to control the pace. Ross keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kang wants to pass to mount but Ross is defending the position. Ross is not content to let Kang control the position. Kang wants to free his trapped foot but Ross is holding on for dear life with his legs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Liu Kang dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Ross cracks Kang with a good jab. Kang scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ross pushes Kang away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kang gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Kang in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Ross is not content to let Kang control the position. Kang tries for a kimura but Ross is defending well. Ross tries to escape but Kang is in control. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Kang. Ross sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Kang throwing shots but Ross is blocking nicely. Liu Kang overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Kang. Kang lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Kang throws an elbow but Ross slips to the side and avoids it well. Ross is not content to let Kang control the position. Kang misses with the ground and pound. Ronnie Ross has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ross taking punishment in the form of punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ross is trying to buck Kang off. Kang postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kang tries for a kimura but Ross is defending well. The strikes coming from Kang are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kang just misses with a punch to the body.
Kang is looking to wear down Ross with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Ross looks to clinch so Kang counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kang sitting in guard here, content to control. Kang with a flurry of punches that miss. Ross wants to stand but Kang is controlling the position. Kang showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Ross wants to get back to his feet but Kang is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that's the end of the fight! Liu Kang showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kang, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
