PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Cavalcanto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Glenn's choice of entrance music: By the sword in my hand. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cavalcanto lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Glenn throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cavalcanto.
Glenn misses with a double jab

and Cavalcanto counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Glenn's guard now.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Cavalcanto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Glenn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cavalcanto sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Glenn's guard.
Cavalcanto is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Cavalcanto will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Miguel Cavalcanto just wasn't active enough.
Cavalcanto moves out of range of the strikes.
Glenn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cavalcanto moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Cavalcanto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Glenn throws a left and a right that both miss

and Cavalcanto counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Cavalcanto is taking a breather. Glenn says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Cavalcanto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Glenn for as long as he can get away with.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Glenn wants to break the clinch but can't.

Cavalcanto has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Glenn is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Glenn misses with an uppercut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Glenn throws a right and a left that Cavalcanto avoids nicely.

Cavalcanto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Glenn did well to prevent Cavalcanto getting side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Glenn doesn't manage to clinch there - Cavalcanto circles away.

We're going to have a standup here because Miguel Cavalcanto wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Cavalcanto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Glenn sprawls well initially but Cavalcanto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Glenn tries to kick Cavalcanto off but Cavalcanto keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Glenn makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Cavalcanto throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Glenn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Glenn throws a right hand that Cavalcanto ducks under and follows up with a left that Cavalcanto also avoids with ease.

Glenn throws a series of punches but Cavalcanto moves out of range.

Glenn gets caught flat footed, as Cavalcanto shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Cavalcanto slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cavalcanto lands a couple of digs.

Glenn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cavalcanto bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Glenn regains half guard, as Cavalcanto was trying to land strikes.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cavalcanto in particular looking to stall.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cavalcanto lands a nice short elbow.
Well, if Cavalcanto is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cavalcanto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
