Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wilbur Apae! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Henderson! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Apae wants to clinch up but Henderson keeps it at a distance. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Henderson. Henderson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Henderson looks gassed! Apae gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Henderson tries to pull guard but Apae holds him up against the cage and eventually Henderson drops back down to his feet.
Apae lands with a short shot to the head.
It looks like Dan Henderson has been cut. Henderson is looking for a takedown. Wilbur Apae has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Henderson. Henderson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Apae walks away with a smile on his face. Henderson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Henderson clinches up with Apae and pushes him back against the cage. Henderson trying to control the position but instead, Apae has worked for underhooks and has pushed Henderson into the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Apae manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round. Apae taking a breather. Henderson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Apae has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Apae gets a trip takedown into half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Apae is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Henderson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Henderson looking for submissions off his back. Apae tries to stand and escape but Henderson is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Apae trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Henderson is trying to maintain the position but Apae is very close to passing his half guard. Apae tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Henderson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Apae is thwarting Henderson's attempts to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Apae wants to stand up but Henderson has a hold of him and won't allow it. Henderson wants to control but Apae is keeping busy.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dan Henderson wasn't active enough on the ground. Apae shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Henderson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Apae is looking to stand up but Henderson won't let him. Apae knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Henderson on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Apae is fighting to break Henderson's control of his arms but Henderson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Henderson has a closed guard, preventing Apae from standing up. Henderson wants to sweep but no luck. Apae would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henderson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Apae defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Henderson. Apae clinches up against the cage. A short uppercut from Apae. Apae tightens his grip and picks Henderson up, before dumping him to the ground. Henderson manages to land in guard. Apae wants to get up but he can't break Henderson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Apae avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dan Henderson. Apae changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Apae scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Apae wants to stand but Henderson has his arm trapped. Wilbur Apae overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Apae stands up and beckons Henderson to his feet. Henderson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Apae counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Wilbur Apae has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Henderson. Apae drives through and clinches with Henderson against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Apae creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. A hook to the body from Apae.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A shot in the inside from Apae. Apae lands a hook to the side of the head. Apae dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henderson blocks a low kick nicely. Apae shoots in looking for a takedown. Henderson tries to sprawl out of it but Apae keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Henderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Apae smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Apae darts in and clinches Henderson up against the cage. Henderson tries to pull guard but Apae holds him up against the cage and eventually Henderson drops back down to his feet.
Apae scores with a shot to the side of Henderson's head. Still in the clinch, Apae scores with a nice short uppercut.
Henderson is rocked! Apae works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Henderson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Henderson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Henderson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Henderson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Apae is looking to stand up but Henderson won't let him.
Dan Henderson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Henderson has closed the distance and engaged Apae in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A short right from Apae. Henderson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Apae makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Henderson is still on wobbly legs! Can Apae finish him? Apae has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Henderson regains guard immediately. Henderson seems to have recovered his senses. Henderson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Apae is looking to stand up but Henderson won't let him. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Henderson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Apae defends well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Apae tries to stand but Henderson is controlling from the bottom. Wilbur Apae is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Henderson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Apae stopping the sweep attempt from Henderson. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Henderson closes the distance and clinches up with Apae, looking for a takedown. Henderson pushes Apae against the cage but Apae circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Apae instigates a clinch. Come on Apae - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
And that's the end of the fight! Wilbur Apae showed his dominance in that final round. Well Apae has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
