PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lalli Teras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and kizzer D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lalli Teras!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, kizzer D!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teras fails with the takedown.

Teras scores a takedown into full mount!

Teras goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now D is on top in guard.
Teras trying to strike off his back.
Teras knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for D on the ground.
Teras has a closed guard, preventing D from standing up.

Teras is looking for a triangle but D pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Teras not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Teras throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

D stands up and waves to Teras to follow him.
Teras shoots in looking for a takedown. D tries to sprawl out of it but Teras keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. D manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Teras is breathing heavily.

Teras moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
D drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Teras is looking to break free of the clinch but D has double underhooks.

Teras drags the fight down to the ground.

D stands up from guard. Let's bang!
D keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Teras.
Teras fails with an attempt to clinch.
Teras shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
D keeps the fight on the outside.
Teras throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around D's waist but D gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Teras off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lalli Teras. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Teras will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
D changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Teras tries to avoid it but D manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Teras to the ground. Teras escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
D displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Teras throws out the jab.

Excellent takedown into side control there by D.

D has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Teras with a poor takedown

and D decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Teras's guard.

D gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Teras throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and D counters with a shoot takedown. Teras fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
D wants to stand but Teras has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Teras controls D momentarily but D frees himself.
Teras is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Teras wants to control but D is keeping him busy.
D is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Teras scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Teras wants to work for an arm triangle but D is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Teras scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

kizzer D dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Teras throws a lazy right hand but D sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
D fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lalli Teras seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Teras moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Teras throws a right and a left that both miss.
Teras misses with a takedown

and D decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Teras's guard.
D is fighting to break Teras's control of his arms but Teras is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Teras controls D momentarily but D frees himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
D won't allow Teras to sweep him here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Teras lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for D!
Teras connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Teras sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
D really wants to buck Teras off and get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Teras breaks from D's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Teras trying to control but D is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
D trying desperately to get to his feet.
Teras has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of D's face.
D is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Teras is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But D has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from D!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

D gets to his feet. Teras looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Teras gets a clinch.
D wants a takedown but no success here.

Teras escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Teras works D's body with a nice hook.
An inside leg kick from Teras misses.
D avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Teras's corner calls for a 1-2. Teras obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Lalli Teras is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Teras changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. D looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
D is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Teras postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Teras swings around for an armbar but D sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Teras's guard.

Teras looking for a guillotine here but D defends easily.
Teras manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. D manages to get himself to full guard.
Teras wants to control from the top but D keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lalli Teras dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and D counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Teras!
Teras slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Teras is trying to maintain the position but D is very close to passing his half guard.
Teras is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Teras looks like he's trying to stand up.
Teras wants to sweep but D has passed to side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

D decides to stand up, so the ref orders Teras to his feet.
Teras tries to clinch up

and D counters with a takedown into side control.
Teras manages to get back to half guard.
Teras is looking to control D's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Teras avoid being mounted?

Teras has one foot on D's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Teras throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Teras falls off balance throwing a combination

and D counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
D is looking to stand up but Teras won't let him.

Teras escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. D gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Teras tries to land a sweep but no joy.
D tries to stand but Teras is controlling from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Teras is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

D stands up and waves to Teras to follow him.

D decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Teras wants to control but D is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Teras throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Teras tries to kick D off in order to stand up. D Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
D wants to stand but Teras has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Teras manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. D manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Teras passes easily into side control. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
kizzer D comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think D has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
