Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carl Panzram! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogelio Rodriguez! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Rodriguez does no damage. Rodriguez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Panzram. Rodriguez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Panzram moves away. Rodriguez lands a jab. Rodriguez looks to land a right hand but Panzram moved out of range. Panzram throws the left hand but Rodriguez avoids the punch easily. Panzram fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rodriguez. Panzram throws a low kick, looking for Rodriguez's leg but Rodriguez calmly moves out of range. Rodriguez swings widly with a right hand
and Panzram counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Panzram uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rodriguez. Rodriguez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rodriguez working away. Panzram is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Panzram manages to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Panzram is doing well to control the position and prevent Rodriguez from advancing to side control. Panzram tries to get to full guard but Rodriguez has control of the leg. Rodriguez is looking to advance position but Panzram won't allow it. Rodriguez throwing shots but Panzram is blocking nicely. Panzram is looking to improve his position.
Rodriguez wants to pass to mount but Panzram is defending the position. Panzram is looking to improve his position.
Rodriguez is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Panzram wants to get back to full guard. Panzram is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rodriguez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rodriguez's back! Rodriguez turns into Panzram and is now in his guard.
Panzram wants to improve his position but instead Rodriguez has moved into half guard.
Panzram is trying to maintain the position but Rodriguez is very close to passing his half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Panzram avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rodriguez. Rodriguez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Panzram keeps working. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Panzram wants to get back to full guard. Panzram is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rodriguez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rodriguez's back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Panzram gets his way!

Panzram is cranking Rodriguez's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Rodriguez! He's tightened the choke and Rodriguez is tapping out!
