Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cale Kappaluna! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lex Wight! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kappaluna will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Wight tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kappaluna paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wight tries to clinch up. Wight moves out of range as Kappaluna throws a body kick.
Wight is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Kappaluna throws a leg kick and Wight counters by clinching up. Kappaluna is looking to break free of the clinch but Wight has double underhooks. Wight blocks a body shot from Kappaluna. Wight is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Wight lands on the inside with an uppercut. Wight is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Wight lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kappaluna backwards. Kappaluna goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Wight lands a nice knee to the body. Wight prevents Kappaluna from breaking the clinch. Wight misses with a knee to the head. Kappaluna escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Wight lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kappaluna circles away quickly and effectively. Wight is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wight feints a jab promting Kappaluna to slip. Wight then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kappaluna slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Kappaluna throws a wild body kick that Wight sees coming a mile off. Kappaluna looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Kappaluna throws a leg kick that is checked and Wight moves into the clinch. Kappaluna throws a punch but it's blocked by Wight. Wight gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Cale Kappaluna has been cut. Wight stalling.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Wight as Kappaluna tries to tie him up. Kappaluna pushes Wight back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Both guys are working to get underhooks.

It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kappaluna fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Wight is out of range. Kappaluna shoots in looking for a takedown. Wight tries to sprawl out of it but Kappaluna keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wight manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Good work by Wight as he checks the leg kick. Kappaluna misses with a leg kick. Wight tries to clinch but Kappaluna moves out of range. A low kick from Kappaluna misses letting Wight counter with a right hand. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kappaluna throws a leg kick and Wight counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wight. Wight tries to stall but Kappaluna uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Kappaluna motions for Wight to come forward. Kappaluna throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. A low kick from Kappaluna misses and Wight counters with a lovely straight right hand! Wight chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kappaluna can pounce on him.

Wight crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kappaluna - the referee stops the clock and Wight gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kappaluna. Wight manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Kappaluna finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A short left from Wight. Cale Kappaluna is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Wight utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Kappaluna is trying to break the clinch but Wight is controlling him. Kappaluna letting Wight take a breather here. Wight's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Wight swings wildly with an uppercut but Kappaluna uses good head movement to avoid it. The referee is keeping an eye on Wight - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cale Kappaluna. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kappaluna, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
