Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dean McCallester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jynkka Levanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Dean McCallester has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCallester moves in looking to clinch but Levanen pushes him off.
McCallester slaps away a takedown attempt from Levanen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Levanen shoots in and drives through. McCallester sprawls well.
Levanen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
McCallester misses with a double jab.

Levanen moves into the clinch.
Levanen blocks an elbow strike.
McCallester throws an elbow that misses.
Levanen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McCallester avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Dean McCallester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jynkka Levanen.
Levanen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

McCallester gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Levanen is trying to trip McCallester. He has hold of a leg but McCallester is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Levanen persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Levanen seems to be looking for submissions.

McCallester connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Levanen momentarily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McCallester is trying to escape the position but Levanen is controlling the position.
Levanen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Levanen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Let's hope that Levanen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

McCallester is not content to let Levanen control the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Levanen tries to advance position but instead McCallester slips a leg back in to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Well, if Levanen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Levanen shoots in looking for a takedown but McCallester manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Levanen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
McCallester throws a lazy right hand but Levanen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
McCallester tries to clinch but Levanen is having none of it.
Horrible takedown by Levanen or perhaps it was just good defense by McCallester which made him look bad.

McCallester tries to close the distance and clinch but Levanen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Levanen is keen to just control but McCallester is a slippery customer.
Levanen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Levanen is looking to take a break and control but McCallester is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jynkka Levanen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
McCallester moves to clinch but Levanen breaks away

and Levanen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Levanen is pushing down on McCallester's leg trying to pass to half guard. McCallester is fighting to maintain full guard but Levanen has managed to sneak the leg through.

Levanen working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. McCallester looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Levanen! Submission of the night perhaps?
