Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mavlet Batirov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Rojas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mavlet Batirov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diego Rojas! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rojas keeps Batirov at a distance using the push kick. Batirov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rojas throws out the jab. Diego Rojas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rojas scores with a nice body kick.
Rojas tries to clinch but Batirov moves out of range. Batirov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rojas circles away. Batirov scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Rojas is looking to improve his position.
Batirov is looking to advance position but Rojas won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Batirov content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batirov working Rojas over with strikes. Rojas avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Batirov. Batirov prevents Rojas from standing back up.
Rojas won't allow Batirov to pass to mount. Rojas wants to control but Batirov passes into side.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Batirov staying calm. Batirov has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rojas! Batirov landing strikes, looking to finish! Batirov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batirov breaks from Rojas's wrist control and lands an elbow. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Batirov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Batirov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Batirov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Batirov raining down hammerfists from mount. Batirov controlling from the full mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Batirov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mavlet Batirov dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Batirov tried to score with a low kick but Rojas checks it. Batirov steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Rojas. That one must have hurt. Rojas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Batirov moves away. Rojas misses with a looping left. Batirov shoots in and drives through. Rojas sprawls well. Rojas tries to sprawl but Batirov drives through with a takedown into half guard. Batirov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ground and pound from Batirov. Batirov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rojas is trying to control but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rojas taking some punishment here, with Batirov in his half guard. Batirov not landing any meaningful shots this time. Batirov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Batirov is controlling the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Batirov is figuring out what he wants to do next. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Batirov is pressing down on Rojas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rojas is holding on for now.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mavlet Batirov wasn't doing enough on the ground. Batirov throws an overhand right that lands on Rojas's shoulder, as Rojas tries to avoid the shot. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Batirov. Rojas loads up on a big right hand but Batirov slips the punch. Rojas swings for the body but Batirov moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Batirov or perhaps it was just good defense by Rojas which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mavlet Batirov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Batirov misses with a leg kick and Rojas counters with a nice leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Batirov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rojas circles away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Batirov tries to bum rush Rojas with a series of wild strikes but Rojas uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Nice body kick from Rojas. Rojas throws a lazy right hand but Batirov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Batirov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rojas tries to avoid it but Batirov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rojas to the ground. Rojas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rojas connects with a solid leg kick. Rojas feints and then cracks Batirov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Batirov down. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The fight stays on the outside here - Rojas looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Rojas misses the shot to the body. Batirov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rojas throws a body punch but Batirov moves out of range. Rojas misses with a wild body shot. Batirov scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mavlet Batirov dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Batirov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rojas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Batirov somewhat. Rojas throws a predictable looking body shot
and Batirov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Rojas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rojas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Batirov manages to avoid it. Batirov throws a shot from downtown. Rojas moves away and avoids it. Rojas jabbing away but nothing is landing. Rojas is looking to slow Batirov down with leg kicks. Rojas cracks Batirov with an open hand slap. Rojas misses with a series of wild punches.
Rojas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Batirov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rojas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batirov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Batirov avoids the body shot from Rojas.
Rojas throws a poor cross that misses
and Batirov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rojas's guard. Batirov looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Batirov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Batirov is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Batirov trying to control the position from guard on top but Rojas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Batirov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Batirov is in close to Rojas's body, working some short punches and elbows. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Batirov postures up in Rojas's guard and throws a big left but Rojas blocks it. Rojas wants to sweep but no luck. Rojas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rojas can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batirov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Batirov passes Rojas's left leg - he's now in half guard. Batirov content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Diego Rojas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mavlet Batirov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Batirov trying to control the action but Rojas is working from the bottom. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Batirov passes the guard and advances to mount! Batirov avoids the attempt from Rojas to control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rojas taking shots to the head.
And that's the end of the fight! Mavlet Batirov showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Batirov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
