PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Knuckle Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Marvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone comes to the cage accompanied by Gimme Shelter. Marvin has chosen King of Kings by Motorhead as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Knuckle Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, King Marvin!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Marvin.
Stone misses the shot to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Stone misses the target.

Marvin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Marvin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Marvin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Marvin misses with the head strike.
Marvin can't find room to land a body shot as Stone controls the action.

Stone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marvin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Stone counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Stone tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Marvin was well out of range. Poor timing from Stone.
Stone takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Marvin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Marvin breaks from Stone's wrist control and lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Stone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Marvin throws some wild stikes that Stone manages to avoid easily.

Marvin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Stone has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marvin putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Marvin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Marvin fails to take his opponent's back.
Marvin won't let Stone get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Marvin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Stone wants to hold on but Marvin pushes him away.

Marvin swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Stone is now in Marvin's guard. A big mistake from Marvin there, giving up the dominant position!

Marvin has a closed guard, preventing Stone from standing up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Marvin looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Stone passes into half guard.
Marvin wants to control but Stone is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Stone postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Marvin to stand up.
Stone listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
A big left from Stone misses.
Marvin looks to land a left hand but Stone moved out of range nicely.
Marvin lands a jab.
Marvin checks the leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Stone lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Marvin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Marvin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Marvin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Marvin dominated that round.
That's time! Stone's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Marvin checks a leg kick nicely.
Stone swings for the body but Marvin moves out of range.
Stone fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marvin manages to avoid it.
Marvin lands a nice shot that snaps Stone's head back.

Marvin has taken the fight to the clinch.
Marvin lands a shot to the body.
Stone misses with a short punch on the inside.
Stone blocking some punches.
Marvin misses with a punch to the body.
Marvin lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Marvin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
A head punch on the inside from Marvin fails to land.

Marvin tries to throw a body punch but Stone avoids it by throwing Marvin back against the cage.

Stone manages to break the clinch.
Marvin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stone manages to avoid it.
Stone stuns Marvin with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Stone wants to sweep but no luck.
Marvin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Stone is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Marvin is controlling him.
Stone keeping moving, preventing Marvin from controlling successfully.

Stone pushes Marvin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Marvin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Stone tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marvin tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Marvin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stone keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marvin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Stone down.
King Marvin has got the better of the ground game so far.

Marvin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Stone has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Marvin but great work by Stone.
Marvin is looking to regain half guard here but Stone keeps moving and retains side control.
Stone wants to stand but Marvin has his arm trapped.
Marvin struggling a bit here.

Stone stands up.
Marvin connects with the punch.

Stone thows a left - swing and a miss!
Marvin connects with a single shot there.
Marvin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stone misses with a body punch
and Marvin counters with a nice uppercut.
Stone walks into a straight right hand from Marvin.
Marvin misses with a jab, cross combination.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stone misses with a head kick.
Stone slips a jab from Marvin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Marvin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Stone loads up on a big right hand but Marvin slips the punch.
A bone on bone clash there as Marvin blocks the leg kick.
Stone scores with a crisp jab that stopped Marvin in his tracks.
Marvin catches Stone with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Stone throws an overhand right that lands on Marvin's shoulder, as Marvin tries to avoid the shot.
Marvin dives in and grabs Stone's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stone pushes down on Marvin's head and hops out.
Marvin throws a lazy right hand but Stone sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Marvin tries to close the distance and clinch but Stone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Marvin throws a hook but Stone blocks it.
Stone lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Marvin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stone's half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone is trying to control but can't.
Marvin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Marvin is working for a submission of some sort.
Marvin missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Marvin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stone defends it well.
Stone wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marvin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Marvin prevents Stone from improving his position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stone pushes Marvin off and gets back to his feet.
Marvin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Marvin clinches with his opponent.

Marvin works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marvin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Marvin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Marvin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Knuckle Stone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Marvin won't allow Stone to get back to his feet.
Marvin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Marvin stands up over Stone, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Marvin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stone is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stone has escaped and now he's on top!
Marvin has a closed guard, preventing Stone from standing up.
King Marvin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Marvin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stone is looking to work some ground and pound but Marvin has wrist control.
Marvin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stone postures up.
Marvin seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. King Marvin wasn't active enough on the ground.
Marvin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Stone counters with a low kick, right behind Marvin 's knee.

And that's the end of the fight!
King Marvin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Marvin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
