The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida misses with a few strikes there.
Machida staying out of range there.
Nice uppercut lands for Young. That snapped Machida's head back.
Joe Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machida avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Young missing with a left hand there. Machida was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Young jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Machida, right into the meat.
Young throws a lazy uppercut
and Machida makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Young misses with a body shot.
Young misses with a left hand
and Machida counters with a body kick.
Young looks gassed!

Machida misses with a head kick.
Machida looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Machida lands a nice leg kick that just misses Young's sensitive parts.
Young tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Machida fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Machida feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Young's calf.
Machida lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Young circles away quickly and effectively.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Machida scores with a head kick. Young tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Joe Young has been cut.
Machida throws a good cross that connects.
Young takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Young is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Whack! Machida lands a heavy head kick that drops Young. The ref tackles Machida to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Young was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Lyoto Machida!
Lyoto Machida spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
