Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mr Mox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Romeo De Souza! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mox shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Mox landing with the ground and pound. De Souza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mox. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mox wants to pass the guard but De Souza is keeping the position. Mox is working hard here to advance position. Mox sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mox is standing up over De Souza. De Souza looks to escape but Mox dives into side control.
Mox advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mox controlling his opponent. Mox lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Mox working for a guillotine from mount but De Souza is in no mood to give up. Mox sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Mox has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Mox looking to secure an arm triangle but De Souza defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Souza is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Mox controlling his opponent. Mox putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mox controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. De Souza wants to get back to his feet.
Mox scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Mox takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Mox is landing with some decent strikes but De Souza is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Mox raining down hammerfists from mount. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mox controlling his opponent. Mox has control of De Souza's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and De Souza regains control of the situation pretty easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De Souza can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Souza has left one of his arms exposed and Mox doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. De Souza screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
