Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Goldberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Laid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goldberg comes to the cage accompanied by GOLDBERG. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Goldberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Laid!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goldberg closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Laid did well to prevent Goldberg getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laid keeping control of the position.
Goldberg seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Laid wants to control but Goldberg is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Goldberg looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Laid is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Goldberg is thwarting Laid's attempts to control the position.
Laid has his hands clasped together around Goldberg's back. He's all about the action.

Bill Goldberg has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

It looks like Mike Laid has been cut.

Goldberg closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Laid quickly recovers to half guard.

Laid is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Goldberg pulls his head out easily.

Laid is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Goldberg's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Goldberg's back!

Goldberg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Laid keeps working.

Laid is in all sorts of trouble here.
Goldberg can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Laid is looking to escape.

Goldberg is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Laid can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Laid gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Goldberg to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Goldberg sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Laid's guard.

Laid wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Goldberg working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Goldberg decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Goldberg is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Laid can do to turn this around?

and Goldberg counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Laid thinking.

Goldberg shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Laid's guard.
Goldberg slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Goldberg wants to control from the top but Laid keeps moving.
Bill Goldberg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bill Goldberg.

Goldberg shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Goldberg uses his free foot to push down on Laid's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Laid.

Goldberg cracks Laid with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.


That has opened up Mike Laid's cut even more.

Goldberg prevents Laid from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Goldberg cracks Laid with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Laid is trying to maintain the position but Goldberg is very close to passing his half guard.

Goldberg perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Goldberg stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Laid to get to his feet.

Goldberg instigates a clinch.

Goldberg pulls guard.
Laid connects with a couple of short punches.
Laid throws an elbow that misses. Goldberg uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Laid's guard. Nice move by Goldberg!

Laid drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Laid is in close to Goldberg's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Laid takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Goldberg seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Goldberg is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Laid won't allow Goldberg to get back to his feet.
Laid postures up in Goldberg's guard and throws a big left but Goldberg blocks it.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Bill Goldberg has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Laid dives in and grabs Goldberg's left leg, looking for a takedown. Goldberg pushes down on Laid's head and hops out.
Goldberg fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Goldberg throws a head kick but Laid moves out of range.

and Goldberg counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Goldberg seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Laid looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Goldberg puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Laid is looking to get back to full guard here but Goldberg has managed to pass to side control instead.

Mike Laid has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Goldberg remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bill Goldberg decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
