Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Omar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petri Pakkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pakkanen has chosen Loost Koos - Pakkasta as his entrance music. Pedro Omar has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Pedro Omar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Petri Pakkanen!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pakkanen doesn't manage to clinch there - Omar circles away.
Pakkanen tries to clinch but Omar is having none of it.

Pakkanen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pakkanen throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Pakkanen misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Pakkanen misses with a hook to the ribs.
Pakkanen swings wildly with an uppercut but Omar uses good head movement to avoid it.

Pakkanen throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

A close round but Petri Pakkanen will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Pakkanen tries to close the distance and clinch but Omar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Pakkanen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Omar walks away with a smile on his face. Pakkanen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Omar is defended easily by Pakkanen.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pakkanen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Omar enables Pakkanen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Omar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Omar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pakkanen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pakkanen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Omar is trying to control the position but Pakkanen postures up.

Omar has his foot on Pakkanen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pakkanen works his way back into a safe position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pakkanen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Omar keeps working.
Omar is looking for a sweep. Pakkanen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Petri Pakkanen has got the better of the ground game so far.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Pakkanen has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Omar is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pakkanen.

Omar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pakkanen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pedro Omar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Pakkanen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
