Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Dukes!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castro Ii clinches with his opponent.

Castro Ii has clasped his hands together around Dukes's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Dukes is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Castro Ii asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Dukes shoots in but Castro Ii avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Dukes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Castro Ii decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dane Castro Ii overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Castro Ii gets a double leg takedown into Dukes's guard.

Castro Ii stays in close to Dukes's body and controls the position.
Castro Ii sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dukes's guard.
Castro Ii is trying to control the action in half guard but Dukes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dane Castro Ii wasn't doing enough on the ground.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dukes.
Dane Castro Ii has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Dukes.
Castro Ii fails to land with a series of punches.

Castro Ii moves into range and clinches up with Dukes.

Dukes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dukes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Castro Ii is fending him off so far but Dukes persists. Nope, Castro Ii circles away and we're back to standing.

Castro Ii decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Castro Ii takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Castro Ii is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Dukes!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dukes is bucking up trying to escape but Castro Ii cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Castro Ii jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Dukes is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Dukes and Castro Ii has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Castro Ii tries for a kimura but Dukes is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Castro Ii decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Castro Ii has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dukes.
Dukes scores with a one two! Castro Ii had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Castro Ii is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dukes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Castro Ii turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Castro Ii manages to end up in side control.

Castro Ii stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Dukes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Castro Ii looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
