PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joko Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machine has chosen Stupid KId as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ray Machine is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joko Diaz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Ray Machine!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machine looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Machine does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Machine bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Diaz gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Diaz is looking to escape.
Diaz tries to get to full guard but Machine has control of the leg.
Machine trying to control the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Machine is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold.

Diaz looking to sit in guard and control but Machine gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Machine can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well, with Machine on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Diaz is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Machine is persistently looking for the submission but Diaz is defending it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Will Machine go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Diaz takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Diaz shoots in but no luck this time.

Machine shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Machine is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Diaz has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Machine has hold of Diaz's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Diaz manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Machine pulls Diaz in close to his closed guard and prevents Diaz from doing any damage or advancing position.
Let's hope that Machine has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Diaz takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Machine rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Machine wants to clinch.
Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Machine sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat.

Machine scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Diaz doesn't seem bothered though.
Machine works over Diaz's head and body with a nice combination.
Diaz takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but Machine manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Machine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Machine wants it to stay on the feet.

Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Machine pinned against the cage. Machine gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Machine has his foot on Diaz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Diaz works his way back into a safe position though.
Machine is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.
Diaz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Machine's guard.

A close fourth round but Ray Machine will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Machine lands with a hook. Diaz tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Machine thuds a left hand into Diaz's body.
Machine throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Machine is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Machine circles away and we're back to standing.
Diaz has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Machine finds it's way round the side to connect with Diaz's head.
Machine catches Diaz with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Machine throws a chopping leg kick but Diaz manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Diaz.
Diaz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Machine tries to avoid it but Diaz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Machine to the ground. Machine escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ray Machine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Machine has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
