Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julio Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Hamilton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Criminal Minded. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hamilton misses with a two punch combination.

Smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hamilton avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smith.

Smith stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hamilton tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hamilton is working an open guard so Smith takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Hamilton gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Richard Hamilton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hamilton.
Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hamilton is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Hamilton circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Smith is trying to drag Hamilton to the mat but Hamilton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Smith works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hamilton swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Hamilton is keeping the position.
Smith engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hamilton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Julio Smith just wasn't active enough.
Smith swings for the body but Hamilton moves out of range.
Smith's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Smith duly obliges.

Hamilton tries to keep at a distance but Smith has taken the fight into the clinch.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hamilton throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Smith fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Julio Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith rushes Hamilton and presses him up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hamilton as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julio Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hamilton. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hamilton gets tackled into the cage by Smith. Smith maintains the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Smith takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hamilton is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Smith thumps Hamilton with a low kick.

Smith feints and as Hamilton raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Smith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hamilton can't keep his opponent in guard - Smith advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura but Hamilton is defending well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hamilton is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold.

Hamilton is in trouble now - Smith has advanced to mount!
Smith lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Smith putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Hamilton is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Hamilton goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Smith!
