Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 57 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boston Terrier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Calderon! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Terrier is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Calderon. Calderon has Terrier up against the cage in a clinch.
Terrier could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Calderon breaks from the clinch.
Calderon lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Calderon. Calderon darts in and clinches Terrier up against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Calderon lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Calderon decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Calderon scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Terrier is rocked! Calderon drives through and clinches with Terrier against the cage.
Oh Terrier is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Calderon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Calderon rushes Terrier with punches - Terrier moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Terrier goes down! Calderon follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Calderon! Our winner, Jose Calderon, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
