PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mogul Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Manson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manson has chosen Indian War Song as his entrance music. Charles Manson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mogul Khan's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Mogul Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charles Manson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan leaves Manson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Khan looks for a takedown but Manson sprawls well.
Manson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Khan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Khan is looking for a kimura but Manson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Khan to get the leverage.
Khan not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Manson wants to improve his position but Khan is controlling well.
Manson is refusing to be controlled, as Khan sits in half guard.

Khan is working for a kimura but Manson is defending it quite comfortably.

Khan wants to free his trapped foot but Manson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Khan throwing shots but Manson is blocking nicely.
Khan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Khan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Khan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Manson has managed to free his arm - good work.

Manson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Khan.
Khan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Khan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Khan is looking to take a break and control but Manson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Khan is working for a submission of some sort.

Manson is defending against the submission attempts here by Khan.

Manson is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Manson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Khan is working away from the top position though.

Manson is defending against the submission attempts here by Khan.

Khan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Khan is stalling here. Manson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Khan seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Manson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Manson wants to control but Khan is keeping him busy.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A solid leg kick lands there for Manson.

Khan throws a hook but Manson avoids it easily.
Manson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Manson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Khan to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Khan wants to control from the top but Manson keeps moving.
Manson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Khan is one step ahead there.
Manson is looking to stand up but Khan isn't so interested in that idea.
Khan trying to control the position from guard on top but Manson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mogul Khan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Manson has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Manson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Khan is defending well for now.
Khan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Manson gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Khan has Manson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Khan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Manson tumbling to the mat - Khan dives into Manson's guard.
Khan forces his way into half guard.
Manson keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Khan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Manson keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Khan is working for a kimura but Manson is defending it quite comfortably.
Manson is trying to control but can't.
Manson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Manson is refusing to be controlled, as Khan sits in half guard.
Khan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Khan is trying to control. Manson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mogul Khan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Manson moves into the clinch successfully.
The referee is keeping an eye on Manson - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Manson prevents the takedown attempt.
Khan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Manson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mogul Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Manson stops a takedown attempt from Khan.
Khan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Manson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Khan tries to pull guard but Manson holds him up against the cage and eventually Khan drops back down to his feet.
Manson is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Khan wants a takedown but no success here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Khan is trying to drag Manson to the mat but Manson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Khan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Manson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mogul Khan will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Manson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Khan moves into the clinch.
Manson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Manson stalling in the clinch but Khan improves position.
Khan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Manson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Manson decides to pull guard.
Manson wants to get back to his feet but Khan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Manson is controlling Khan's posture.
Manson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Khan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Khan trying to control but Manson is working from the bottom.
Khan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Manson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Khan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Manson is trying to control Khan's posture but Khan avoids it.
Khan scores with a couple of short elbows.
Manson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Khan trying to control the action but Manson is working from the bottom.
Manson is trying to buck Khan off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Khan tries to advance to mount but can't.
Manson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Khan.

Khan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Mogul Khan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A lull in the action here as Khan stalls from top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Manson is looking to reverse the position.
Mogul Khan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Khan moves into full mount!
Manson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Khan trying to control but Manson is having none of it.
Khan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Khan looking to control but Manson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Khan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mogul Khan just wasn't active enough.
Khan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Manson's head.
Khan looks to throw a body kick
and Manson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Charles Manson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Manson throws a low kick, looking for Khan's leg but Khan calmly moves out of range.
Khan shoots in for a takedown but Manson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Manson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Manson lands a nice looking kick to the body. Khan takes a step back to recover.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Manson misses with a kick to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mogul Khan.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Khan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
