PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leyeyasu Tokugawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jero Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wolf comes into a darkened arena with his song building. schism kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Leyeyasu Tokugawa could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jero Wolf's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Leyeyasu Tokugawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Jero Wolf!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolf ducks under a wild hook from Tokugawa.
Tokugawa pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Wolf throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Tokugawa connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wolf. Wolf circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Wolf lands with a cross.
Tokugawa looks to land a right hand but Wolf moved out of range.
Wolf thows a left - swing and a miss!
Wolf misses the jab.
Wolf slips a jab from Tokugawa.
Wolf misses with a straight left.
Wolf moves away from the strike by Tokugawa.
Tokugawa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wolf avoids it really well and circles away.
Wolf throws out a loose jab but Tokugawa uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tokugawa defending well as Wolf loads up on a big left hand.
Wolf ducks under a wild hook from Tokugawa.
Tokugawa shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Wolf eats them both and turns towards Tokugawa to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Wolf misses with a body shot.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Wolf - that will leave a mark!
Wolf throws a hook to the side of Tokugawa's head but Tokugawa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Wolf attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Wolf shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tokugawa is trying to defend but Wolf finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tokugawa wants to pass the guard but Wolf is keeping the position.
Tokugawa is looking to work some ground and pound but Wolf has wrist control.

Tokugawa throws an elbow that misses. Wolf uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tokugawa's guard. Nice move by Wolf!
Wolf postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Wolf makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wolf thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tokugawa's head.

Jero Wolf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wolf avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Tokugawa is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Tokugawa fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Tokugawa counters with a shoot takedown. Wolf fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tokugawa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wolf swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wolf drops back looking for a leg! Tokugawa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tokugawa manages to kick Wolf off! Wolf jumps back into Tokugawa's guard.

Jero Wolf showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Wolf throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A lazy left from Wolf finds it's target.
Wolf tries to clinch but Tokugawa moves out of range.

Wolf displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tokugawa throws out the jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tokugawa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wolf to the mat! Wolf manages to get full guard.
Wolf is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Wolf turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Wolf manages to end up in side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tokugawa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wolf's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wolf's back!

Tokugawa looking to break Wolf's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Wolf remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Tokugawa will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wolf manages to reverse the position and now he's in Tokugawa's guard. Nice work there by Wolf.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Leyeyasu Tokugawa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jero Wolf comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wolf has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
