Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Zat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elias Nielsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zat comes into the arena with Open your eyes by Alter Bridge blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Zat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Elias Nielsen! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zat digs a good hook to Nielsen's body.
Zat feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nielsens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Gabriel Zat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nielsen fails with a takedown attempt. Zat connects with a leg kick. Nielsen looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Danga de danga de dang - Zat scores with a four punch combination! Zat with a body punch. A glancing blow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zat misses with a few strikes there.
Zat throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nielsen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Zat is in Nielsen's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Nielsen controlling Zat's posture. Let's hope that Nielsen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Zat trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nielsen's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nielsen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zat's guard. Nielsen is pushing down on Zat's leg trying to pass to half guard. Zat is fighting to maintain full guard but Nielsen has managed to sneak the leg through. Zat is looking to escape. Nielsen drops an elbow to the side of Zat's head. Zat controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Nielsen is controlling the pace.
Nielsen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Zat doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nielsen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zat is trying to stand.
Nielsen content to control rather than advance. Zat is refusing to be controlled, as Nielsen sits in half guard. Zat wants to control the action here but instead Nielsen manages to pass to full mount! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nielsen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nielsen avoids the attempt from Zat to control. Nielsen wants to take his opponent's back but Zat doesn't allow it. Zat knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nielsen on the ground. Zat can't escape the position.
Nielsen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Zat turns into him and now he's in Nielsen's guard.
Nielsen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Zat slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nielsen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Nielsen advances position into side control! The referee asks Nielsen politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Nielsen prefers to stall for the moment though. Nielsen landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nielsen wants to control but Zat is keeping him busy. Zat can't do much from the bottom here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nielsen scores with a couple of short elbows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Elias Nielsen will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
A nice inside leg kick there by Zat. That's going to slow Nielsen down. Zat connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Nielsen on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Zat misses with a jab, cross combination.
Zat dives in and scores a takedown into Nielsen's guard. Nielsen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Zat manages to get himself to full guard.

Nielsen trying to control but Zat is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nielsen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. This has been an exciting period of action! Nielsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zat swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nielsen lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Zat wants to stand and escape but Nielsen is having none of it. Nielsen slips nicely into half guard. Zat trying to control but Nielsen postures up.
Nielsen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Zat tries to get to full guard but Nielsen has control of the leg. Nielsen in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Zat tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Nielsen!
