Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Jayhawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivera is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Go hard or go home - E-40. Michael Rivera has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Jayhawk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Rivera! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivera keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Rivera looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Rivera misses with a two punch combination.
Jayhawk shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jayhawk shoots for a double leg takedown but Rivera sprawls well. He's pushed Jayhawk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rivera tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jayhawk paws at him with a jab and circles away. A combination from Rivera does no damage. Rivera rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jayhawk moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jayhawk. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshua Jayhawk. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jayhawk pushes Rivera up against the cage in a clinch. Jayhawk pulls guard effortlessly. Rivera pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jayhawk is keeping the position for now. Jayhawk had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rivera is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jayhawk Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rivera's back instead. Rivera trying to control the action but Jayhawk just sinks the hooks in.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jayhawk trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Jayhawk is riding his opponent, not letting Rivera buck him off. Oooh a big shot gets through from Jayhawk. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Rivera is trapped and Jayhawk is scoring with shots to the head and body. Jayhawk struggling to keep hold of the position.
Rivera is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Jayhawk.
Jayhawk is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Rivera up.
Jayhawk lands strikes to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jayhawk struggling to keep hold of the position.
Jayhawk is really struggling to control Rivera but he's trying to hold on to the position. Jayhawk is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jayhawk tightening his grip on Rivera, looking for the choke. Rivera is trying to get back to his feet but Jayhawk has full control of the position and if anything, Rivera has just worked his way into a worse spot. Jayhawk tries to keep control of the position but Rivera is staying busy. Rivera covers up after that shot from Jayhawk.
Rivera wants to control his opponent's hands but Jayhawk gets his hands free.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Rivera defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Rivera tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jayhawk can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rivera is looking to escape. Jayhawk scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Rivera?
Rivera is trying to reverse the position but instead Jayhawk has taken his back - oops! Jayhawk lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. Jayhawk tightening his grip on Rivera, looking for the choke. Rivera turns into Jayhawk and is now in his guard.
Jayhawk pulls Rivera in to control the position. Rivera wants to control from the top but Jayhawk keeps moving. Jayhawk manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rivera manages to get himself to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jayhawk looking to pass the guard. Jayhawk stands up from Rivera's guard - Jayhawk perhaps looking for a knockout. Jayhawk pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Jayhawk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rivera wants to control but Jayhawk postures up. Rivera prevents Jayhawk from moving into mount. Jayhawk advances to mount. Jayhawk looking to finish Rivera with some ground and pound. This is bad for Rivera! Rivera tries to hold on but Jayhawk postures up. Jayhawk fails to move to back control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joshua Jayhawk dominated that round. That's time! Jayhawk's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jayhawk slips a jab and a cross from Rivera.
Rivera tries to keep at a distance but Jayhawk has taken the fight into the clinch. Rivera wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jayhawk has him pressed against the cage. Jayhawk manages to break the clinch.
Jayhawk misses with a takedown attempt - Rivera sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. No luck for Jayhawk with that takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivera swinging wilding here.
Jayhawk takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivera throws a nice looking combination but Jayhawk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Rivera pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Rivera looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Jayhawk throws out a powerful jab. Jayhawk shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jayhawk showed some decent athleticism there. Jayhawk seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Jayhawk works his foot free and advances to mount. Rivera gets back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jayhawk is pressing down on Rivera's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rivera is holding on for now. Rivera wants to control but Jayhawk is keeping busy and won't allow it. Rivera is trying to stand.
Jayhawk has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jayhawk passes into side control, despite Rivera's attempt to control the position.
Rivera bucks up and tries to throw Jayhawk off but instead Jayhawk has got his back! Rivera controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Jayhawk throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Rivera breaks Jayhawk's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Jayhawk can't keep his opponent in guard - Rivera advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera prevents Jayhawk from improving his position. Jayhawk is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rivera's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rivera's back! Rivera prevents Jayhawk from getting a body triangle. Jayhawk sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Rivera taps out!
