PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adam White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snow has chosen country roads as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adam White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Snow!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Snow on the side of the head.
Nice takedown defense from Snow. No joy for White on that attempt.
Snow throws a nice looking combination but White bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Adam White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Snow circles away from the clinch attempt
and Snow counters with a straight right hand.
White tries to close the distance and clinch but Snow swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

White gets a clinch.
Snow being controlled against the cage.
Snow is trying to pull guard but White has him pressed against the cage.
White tries to score a body lock takedown but Snow shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Snow goes for a takedown in the clinch but White prevents it.
Snow changes levels and goes for a takedown here. White fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Adam White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Snow.

White checks the leg kick nicely there.
Snow slaps away a takedown attempt from White, before circling back to the center of the mat.
White throws a right and a left that both miss.
A low kick from Snow is predictable there

and White counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Snow looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Snow wants to stand but White is controlling the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
White postures up in Snow's guard and throws a big left but Snow blocks it.

White controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

White thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Snow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
White sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Snow's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Snow can do anything to dispel that myth.
White content to control rather than advance.
White is pressing down on Snow's thigh, looking to free his foot. Snow is holding on for now.
White has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
White misses with a head shot. Snow uses the momentum to regain guard.
Snow has White pulled in close to control his posture.

White stops Snow from standing up.
White pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Snow is keeping the position for now.
White wants to control from the top but Snow keeps moving.

White stands and steps away. Snow gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Snow moves into the clinch.
Snow is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but White is defending well.
Snow wants a takedown but no success here.

Snow is fighting off a takedown attempt but White is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Snow to the mat. Snow regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Snow is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

White lands a couple of digs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Snow wants to get back to his feet but White is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
White working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Snow's head.
White wants to control from the top but Snow keeps moving.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

White shoots for a double leg takedown but Snow sprawls well. He's pushed White's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Snow throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around White's waist but White gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Snow off to one side.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from White is defended easily by Snow.
White is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
White tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Snow manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
White throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Horrible takedown by Snow or perhaps it was just good defense by White which made him look bad.
White shoots in but Snow avoids the takedown attempt easily.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Snow.

Snow avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
White moves out of range as Snow throws a body kick.
Snow stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Snow wants it to stay on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
White swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The fighters circle momentarily. White darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

White is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

White is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

White is squirming around, avoiding Snow's attempts to control the action.

Snow might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control White kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Snow controlling the position easily from mount.
Snow wants to control the pace but White is squirming around nicely.
Snow tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Joey Snow has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Snow takes the fight into the clinch.
White gets underhooks to prevent Snow's takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey Snow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! White's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Snow closes the distance and clinches up with White, looking for a takedown. Snow pushes White against the cage but White circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

White decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Snow has hold of White's hands but White slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

White is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
White is looking to advance position but Snow won't allow it.
Snow is looking to improve his position.
White throwing shots but Snow is blocking nicely.
Snow tries to kick White off but White keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
White trying to control from half guard but Snow is working away.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Snow is controlling White's position as best he can from this difficult position.
White working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

White decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
White shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Snow sprawls well. Snow wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. White gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
White closes the distance but Snow moves to the side
and Snow counters with a lovely straight right hand!
White throws a body punch but Snow moves out of range.

White takes the fight into the clinch.
White has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Snow is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
White goes for a takedown in the clinch but Snow prevents it.

Snow closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into White's guard.
White has a closed guard, preventing Snow from standing up.

Snow has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of White is proving hard to escape from.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Snow decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on White, up you get!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Adam White.
Well White has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Adam White decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
