Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josey Wales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Compton!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wales feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Wales wants to control from the top but Compton keeps moving.
Wales wants to pass the guard but Compton is keeping the position.

Compton is looking for a triangle but Wales pushes his legs off easily.
Wales pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Compton is keeping the position for now.
Wales throws a strike but Compton rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Wales has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wales on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wales tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Wales shoots in and bounces Compton off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

Compton can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wales controls the pace.

Wales takes a little break here. Compton wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Wales tries to move into full mount but can't pass Compton's legs.
Compton is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Wales has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Wales grinds an elbow into Compton's temple.
Wales is looking to take a break and control but Compton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Wales trying to control the action but Compton is working from the bottom.

Wales stands up and beckons Compton to his feet.
Wales shoots in looking for a takedown. Compton tries to sprawl out of it but Wales keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Compton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wales gets a takedown into half guard.
Wales works his foot free and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Compton is staying active underneath Wales, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Wales drops an elbow to the side of Compton's head.
Wales is nestled in close to Compton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Wales winds up and cracks Compton with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wales keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Wales slips a nice elbow through Compton's hands, connecting with Compton's forehead.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Compton looks like he's trying to stand up.
Compton is breathing heavily.
Wales working over Compton with some ground and pound. Compton looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Josey Wales overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wales is tying to control. Compton wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wales is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Wales working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Compton looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Wales! Submission of the night perhaps?
