Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alex Bakers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Per Pramok Bawakuwau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Bakers looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Bakers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Per Pramok Bawakuwau! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bawakuwau thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Bakers if he has to take too many more of those.
Bakers avoids the head kick by Bawakuwau.
Bawakuwau lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Bawakuwau wants to clinch. Bakers is breathing heavily. Bawakuwau takes a swing at Bakers's ribcage but misses. Bawakuwau wants to clinch. Per Pramok Bawakuwau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bakers feints and as Bawakuwau raises his hands in defense, Bakers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Bakers content to stall in guard here. Bawakuwau is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bakers is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bakers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bawakuwau wants to stand but Bakers is controlling the position. Bakers slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Alex Bakers wasn't doing enough on the ground. Bawakuwau lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bawakuwau. Bakers takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bawakuwau lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Bakers avoids a punch combination nicely.
Bawakuwau moves into the clinch. Bakers drags the fight down to the ground.
Bawakuwau trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bakers's guard. Bawakuwau wants to stand and escape but instead Bakers has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bakers sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bawakuwau wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bakers manages to pass to side control. Bakers passes the guard and advances to mount! Bakers sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bawakuwau is looking to get to half guard. Bakers controlling the position easily from mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bawakuwau is trying to stand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Per Pramok Bawakuwau will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Bawakuwau gets tackled into the cage by Bakers. Bakers maintains the clinch. Bakers blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Bakers fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Bawakuwau with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Bakers on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bakers prevents a body shot from Bawakuwau. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Bawakuwau just misses with a elbow thrown towards Bakers's brow. Bawakuwau is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Bawakuwau tries to circle away but Bakers has him pinned against the cage. Bakers manages to pull guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bakers is pulling down on Bawakuwau's head. It's preventing any offense from Bawakuwau, at least for the moment. Bawakuwau wants to stand but Bakers has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Bakers looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Bawakuwau must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bakers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Bakers trying to control the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Alex Bakers wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Bawakuwau throws the left hand but Bakers avoids the punch easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bakers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Bakers controlling from the top position. Bakers seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bawakuwau for as long as he can get away with. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Alex Bakers wasn't doing enough on the ground. Bakers swats away the attempt to clinch by Bawakuwau.

so Bakers counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. This has been an exciting period of action! Bakers controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Bakers dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Bakers gets the takedown into side control. Bawakuwau is trying to escape the position but Bakers is controlling the position. Bakers advances to full mount. Bakers looking to control and managing it successfully. Bawakuwau tries to buck Bakers off but he can't manage it. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bakers looking to control and managing it successfully. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Bakers has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Alex Bakers has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Bawakuwau misses with the combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bawakuwau waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Bakers. Bawakuwau lands a nice hook to Bakers's body. Bakers takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Bawakuwau tries a head kick but it misses.
Bawakuwau throws the left hand but Bakers avoids the punch easily. Bawakuwau tries to clinch but Bakers moves away and Bakers counters by clinching up. Bakers pulls guard effortlessly. Bakers wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Bakers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Alex Bakers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Alex Bakers just wasn't active enough. Bakers fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bawakuwau to the ground. Bakers is now in Bawakuwau's guard. Bawakuwau is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bawakuwau can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bakers controls the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Alex Bakers. Bawakuwau gets tackled into the cage by Bakers. Bakers maintains the clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bawakuwau working Bakers over with knees to the body. Bakers ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bakers no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Alex Bakers showed his dominance in that final round. I think Bakers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
