Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sal Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Watkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon Watkins will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sal Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon Watkins!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelly moves to clinch but Watkins breaks away
and Watkins counters with a nice leg kick.

Kelly rushes Watkins and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Watkins is trying to push Kelly away but Kelly has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Watkins has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Watkins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Watkins!
A bone on bone clash there as Watkins blocks the leg kick.
Kelly shoots in for a takedown but Watkins shows good takedown defense.
Sal Kelly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Watkins dives in and scores a takedown into Kelly's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kelly is on top in guard.
Kelly tries to free his leg and advance position but Watkins is retaining full guard.
Watkins wants to get back to his feet but Kelly is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Watkins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kelly. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kelly is looking to work some ground and pound but Watkins has wrist control.

A solid leg kick lands there for Watkins.

Kelly really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kelly throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Watkins's waist but Watkins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kelly off to one side.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Watkins throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Watkins throws the kick towards the body but Kelly avoids it.

and Watkins counters with a stiff right hand.
Kelly changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Watkins tries to avoid it but Kelly manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Watkins to the ground. Watkins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Watkins lands with a thumping leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Watkins. No joy for Kelly on that attempt.
Watkins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Watkins has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Kelly is trying to keep an underhook but Watkins manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kelly shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Watkins as he avoids it easily.

Kelly escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Watkins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Watkins wants to stand but Kelly is controlling his posture from full guard.

Watkins would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Kelly bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Watkins's guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Brandon Watkins has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
