PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tom Servo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zanch Boz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tom Servo looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Servo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zanch Boz!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Servo closes the distance and clinches.
Servo looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Boz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boz keeps the fight on the outside.
Boz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Servo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Boz wants to hold on but Servo pushes him away.
Boz gets back to half guard.
Boz looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Servo is working away from the top position though.
Boz holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Boz kicks off Servo and gets to his feet.

Boz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Servo tries to roll over but Boz keeps him under control.
Boz sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
I looks like Boz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Servo gets full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boz passes Servo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Servo wants to improve his position but Boz is controlling well.
Servo is refusing to be controlled, as Boz sits in half guard.
Boz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Servo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Boz wants to take a breather but Servo is having none of it.
Servo is trying is best to control the position here.
Boz stops Servo from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Servo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Servo throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Boz trying to control but Servo is working from the bottom.

Boz stands up and waves to Servo to follow him.

Boz clinches.
Servo prevents the takedown attempt.
Boz is looking to break free of the clinch but Servo has double underhooks.
Boz is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Servo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boz wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Servo has him pressed against the cage.

Boz turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Boz is looking to take a break and control but Servo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Boz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Servo is not content to let Boz control the position.

Servo throws Boz to one side and escapes!
Servo tries to clinch there but Boz circles away.
Servo stuffs the takedown attempt from Boz. Boz gets slowly back to his feet.
Tom Servo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zanch Boz.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Servo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Boz counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Boz not doing much here.

Boz escapes and gets back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Servo wants to clinch up but Boz keeps it at a distance.
Boz tries for a takedown but Servo circles away easily
and Servo counters with a head kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Boz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Boz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Boz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Servo sprawls well initially but Boz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zanch Boz dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Boz has Servo up against the cage in a clinch.

Boz has hold of one of Servo's legs. Servo is fighting the takedown attempt but Boz gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Boz wants to control from the top but Servo keeps moving.
Boz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Boz advances position into side control!

Boz has hold of Servo's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Servo tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Boz cranks the arm and Servo screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Servo, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Zanch Boz!
