Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bradley Nowell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Zalinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nowell comes to the cage accompanied by Doin Time. Zalinski has chosen We Don't Need Another Hero as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Zalinski! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zalinski throws a leg kick but Nowell sees it coming and moves out of range. Nice body punch from Zalinski. Zalinski misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nowell.
Zalinski fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Nowell is out of range. Zalinski misses with a head kick.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Nowell lands a knee to the body.
Nowell just leaning against Zalinski, taking a breather. Nowell has Zalinski pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Nowell pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Zalinski tumbling to the mat - Nowell dives into Zalinski's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nowell trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Zalinski controls Nowell momentarily but Nowell frees himself. Zalinski wants to sweep but no luck. Zalinski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Well, if Zalinski is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zalinski wants to take a breather but Nowell is having none of it. Nowell makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! It looks like Ray Zalinski has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nowell is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Zalinski tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Zalinski misses with a short punch on the inside. Nowell can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zalinski is looking to escape. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Nowell sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Zalinski throwing hammer fists to the chest of Nowell. What's that going to do exactly? Zalinski is working to get back to half guard.

Still in half guard, Nowell seems content to control. Nowell is keen to just control but Zalinski is a slippery customer. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Zalinski trying to control here.
Nowell prevents Zalinski from improving his position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Nowell missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Nowell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zalinski keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bradley Nowell dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ray Zalinski's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Nowell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Zalinski avoids it really well and circles away. Zalinski looks to score with a jab to the body but Nowell is just out of range. Zalinski tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nowell was well out of range. Poor timing from Zalinski. Zalinski circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nowell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A looping hook to the body misses from Zalinski. Nowell does a little dance to reset his feet. Zalinski has Nowell up against the cage in a clinch.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Zalinski. Zalinski pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Zalinski on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Zalinski is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zalinski gets caught napping as Nowell dives in and scores a takedown. Zalinski manages to retain guard. Nowell pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zalinski is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nowell forces his way into half guard. Zalinski trying to control but Nowell postures up.
Nowell is figuring out what he wants to do next. Zalinski keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Zalinski is looking for a sweep. Nowell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Nice strikes from Nowell there. Nowell is pressing down on Zalinski's thigh, looking to free his foot. Zalinski is holding on for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zalinski keeping hold of Nowell's head, controlling as best he can. Zalinski actively working from the bottom here. Bradley Nowell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nowell seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Zalinski for as long as he can get away with. Zalinski is looking to control Nowell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zalinski avoid being mounted? Zalinski tries to roll over but Nowell keeps him under control. Nowell is figuring out what he wants to do next. Nowell wants to pass to mount but Zalinski is defending the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bradley Nowell just wasn't active enough. Nowell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zalinski pinned against the cage. Zalinski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Zalinski swats away the attempt to clinch by Nowell. Nowell clinches up with Zalinski and pushes him back against the cage. Bradley Nowell has scored more points in the clinch so far. Zalinski pushes Nowell back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Nowell lands a knee to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nowell lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Zalinski is still on wobbly legs! Can Nowell finish him? Nowell has Zalinski pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Zalinski is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Nowell - that's hurt Zalinski badly! Oh, another knee lands and Zalinski is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Zalinski doesn't seem to be complaining.
