Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Maury!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maury avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Maury misses with a lunging right hand
and Rad counters with a leg kick.

Rad clinches.
A knee to the head by Rad.


It looks like Tom Maury has been cut.

Rad lands an uppercut that drops Maury! Rad follows him to the canvas looking to finish.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rad tries for a kimura but Maury is defending well.
Maury is looking for a sweep.
Rad is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Maury is trying to get back to half guard.
Maury is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rad is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Maury is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Maury is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Rad's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maury makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Maury.
Rad might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rad is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Maury is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rad is aware though and is defending well.
Rad stays in close to Maury's body and controls the position.
Rad stands and throws Maury's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Rad has hold of Maury's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Maury tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rad cranks the arm and Maury screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Maury, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Kickin Rad!
Kickin Rad retains his heavyweight title!
Kickin Rad seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
