PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kerma Pekoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petr Skrtic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Petr Skrtic was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Petr Skrtic!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skrtic tries to clinch up but Pekoni circles away and keeps his distance.
Pekoni shoots in and drives through. Skrtic sprawls well.
Skrtic misses with a double jab.
Pekoni tries for a takedown but Skrtic sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Pekoni shoots in for a takedown but Skrtic shows good takedown defense.

A left hand lands to the body for Skrtic.
Skrtic misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pekoni.

Pekoni shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Pekoni looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Pekoni manages to capitalize on a mistake by Skrtic to take his back!

Skrtic is looking for a sweep. Pekoni is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Pekoni tries to pass to full mount but Skrtic defends it.
Pekoni is keen to just control but Skrtic is a slippery customer.
Pekoni wants to stand up but Skrtic is controlling the position.

Skrtic tries to buck Pekoni off but Pekoni is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Skrtic's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Skrtic manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Pekoni is looking to take a break and control but Skrtic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pekoni postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Skrtic is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pekoni, into his guard.
Skrtic pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pekoni is keeping the position for now.

Skrtic drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pekoni looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pekoni looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pekoni!

Skrtic manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Pekoni wants to get back to full guard.
Pekoni makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pekoni.
Skrtic missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Skrtic is looking to advance position but Pekoni has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Skrtic sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Pekoni has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Pekoni wants to finish this one by submission but Skrtic is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pekoni.

Skrtic wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pekoni thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Skrtic is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pekoni off and has taken his back!

Skrtic punching from mount but Pekoni doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Skrtic jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pekoni is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pekoni and Skrtic has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Skrtic is looking to take a break and control but Pekoni is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Skrtic pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pekoni is keeping the position for now.
Skrtic throws and elbow that misses. Pekoni uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Skrtic's guard. Nice move by Pekoni!

Skrtic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pekoni gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Skrtic looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Pekoni puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pekoni wants to lay and pray for a moment but Skrtic keeps working.
Skrtic tries to roll over but Pekoni keeps him under control.

Pekoni seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Skrtic is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Kerma Pekoni!
