PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergej Boskov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spustilsya Gor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergej Boskov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Spustilsya Gor!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gor shoots in for a takedown but Boskov shows good takedown defense.
Gor tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boskov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gor takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Boskov wants to clinch up but Gor keeps it at a distance.
Boskov keeps the fight on the outside.

Boskov shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Gor holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Boskov is trying to control the action in half guard but Gor is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gor is looking to control Boskov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gor avoid being mounted?

Gor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Boskov pulls his head out easily.
Boskov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gor is trying to get back to full guard.

Boskov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Gor gets full guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Gor working for a triangle but Boskov defends it easily.

Gor is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Boskov is aware though and is defending well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gor can do anything to dispel that myth.

Boskovis looking to pass into half guard but Gor pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Gor is in guard.

Gor prevents Boskov from standing back up.
Gor looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Boskov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gor is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boskov wants to get back to his feet but Gor is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Boskov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gor is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gor trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Boskov wants to stand but Gor is controlling the position.
Boskov being controlled here, momentarily.
Gor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boskov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boskov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gor is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gor postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Gor trying to control the position from guard on top but Boskov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gor throwing strikes from guard but Boskov blocks nicely.
Boskov wants to get back to his feet but Gor is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gor throws a big right hand that misses.
Gor is working Boskov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spustilsya Gor dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Boskov has a takedown stuffed.
Gor scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gor misses with a looping right.
Gor throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gor takes a swing at Boskov's ribcage but misses.
Gor with a body punch. A glancing blow.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Boskov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gor to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gor lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Gor controls from within his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gor forces his way into half guard.
Gor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gor throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Gor is working for a kimura but Boskov is defending it quite comfortably.

Gor has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gor can't control as he wanted to and Boskov manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Gor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Boskov keeps working.
Boskov wants to get back to his feet.

Gor is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Boskov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gor.

Gor frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Gor has control of Boskov's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Boskov regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Gor lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.


It looks like Sergej Boskov has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
BOOM! Gor connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Whack. That's a big, big shot from Gor! Boskov is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Spustilsya Gor!
Spustilsya Gor is the new heavyweight champion!
