Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Paru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riley comes to the cage accompanied by Ambitionz Az a Ridah. Paru has chosen Tropa de Elite, osso duro de roer as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Riley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Paru! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paru closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Who's going to make the next move? Riley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Paru wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Riley stops Paru from passing to mount. Riley gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Riley is working to get back to half guard.
Riley tries to hold on but Paru postures up. Riley is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riley defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Paru. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paru controlling the pace for now. Paru jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Riley manages to avoid the submission attempt. Paru working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Riley is trying to control Paru's posture but Paru avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riley prevents Paru from moving into mount. Riley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paru on the ground. Riley struggling a bit here. Riley is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Riley takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Paru tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Paru wants to control but Riley is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paru is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Riley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. He's persisting with it as Riley sprawls well. Riley wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Paru gets slowly back to his feet. Nice uppercut lands for Riley. That snapped Paru's head back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Paru is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Riley's half guard. Paru looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Paru trying to control from half guard but Riley is working away. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Paru is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Riley sees it coming and defends easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Paru dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Riley stuffs the takedown attempt from Paru. Paru gets slowly back to his feet. Paru looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Riley is fending him off so far but Paru persists. Nope, Riley circles away and we're back to standing. Riley lands a nice hook to Paru's body. Paru takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. A jab lands there for Riley. Paru shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Riley defends it nicely. Mark Riley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Paru. Riley misses with a few strikes there.

Riley lands a really nice looking cross but Paru seems unphased.

That's one minute gone in the round. Danga de danga de dang - Riley scores with a four punch combination! Paru tries to score a power double leg takedown but Riley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Paru somewhat. Paru's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Riley connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Paru scrambles back to his feet. Paru shoots for a takedown but Riley saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Paru is breathing heavily. Riley misses with a double jab.
Paru shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Riley as he avoids it easily. Riley throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Paru stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Riley!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Paru will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Paru shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Riley as he avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riley scores with a jab. Paru acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Riley digs a good hook to Paru's body.
Riley pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Sloppy strikes from Riley. Those never looked like landing. Paru on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Riley scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Jose Paru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Riley lands with a nice body punch. Paru moves out of range as Riley throws a body kick.
Riley connects with a body shot. Riley lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Riley lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Riley pushes Paru up against the cage in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riley tries for a takedown. No joy.
Riley is pushing Paru up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Riley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Riley throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Paru stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Riley catches Paru with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Paru shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Riley is looking to wear down Paru with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Riley throws a shot to the body.
Riley wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Some bone on bone action there as Riley checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Paru fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Riley avoids it really well and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riley looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Paru gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Riley counter with a right hand. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Riley. Riley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Paru. Paru tries to keep at a distance but Riley has taken the fight into the clinch. Riley breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Paru looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Riley is fending him off so far but Paru persists. Nope, Riley circles away and we're back to standing. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Paru fails with the takedown and Riley counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riley pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Paru back to the cage. Riley follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Paru changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Riley tries to avoid it but Paru manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Riley to the ground. Riley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Riley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Paru's waist but Paru gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Riley off to one side. A left lands for Riley. A punch combination from Riley misses. Riley misses with the combination.
Riley looks for the body kick but Paru saw that one coming. Riley fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Paru looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Paru fails with the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riley looks to land a combination. Paru sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Mark Riley is winning the standup battle so far. Paru takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Paru has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Riley slaps away a takedown attempt from Paru, before circling back to the center of the mat. No joy there for Riley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Riley throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Paru stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Paru takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Paru takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Riley ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Paru blocks the body kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riley with a body punch. A glancing blow. Riley throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Paru tries for a takedown but Riley circles away easily and Riley counters with a series of strikes. Paru will be more careful next time no doubt. Paru is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Riley works Paru's body with a nice hook. Riley ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Riley pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Paru back to the cage. Riley follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Good standup being displayed there by Riley as he connects with a hook. Riley ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Paru on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Paru shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Riley but Riley pushes him off and we're back to square one. Paru gets tackled into the cage by Riley. Riley maintains the clinch. Paru is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Paru fails to pull guard.

This has been an exciting period of action! Riley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Paru moves out of range as Riley throws a body kick.
Paru doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Crunch! Riley slams his shin into Paru's torso. Riley throws a series of punches but Paru avoids them all with ease.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Riley showed his dominance in that final round. I think Riley has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
