Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Krzysztof Kulak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Shishkhabevov! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kulak with a poor takedown and Shishkhabevov counters by moving into the clinch. Kulak is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Shishkhabevov pulls guard successfully.
Kulak drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shishkhabevov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shishkhabevov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shishkhabevov! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kulak is breathing heavily. Shishkhabevov creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kulak sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Kulak is trying to escape the position but Shishkhabevov is controlling the position. Shishkhabevov lands an elbow. Shishkhabevov controlling from side mount. Kulak is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Shishkhabevov asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shishkhabevov landing a few strikes. Shishkhabevov scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kulak to see if he's OK. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shishkhabevov is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Kulak is working to avoid the ground and pound but Shishkhabevov connects with a decent elbow. Shishkhabevov scoring with punches from side control. Shishkhabevov controlling the position. Shishkhabevov tries for a kimura but Kulak is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shishkhabevov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A lull in the action here as Shishkhabevov stalls from top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shishkhabevov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Shishkhabevov working the ground and pound from side control. Kulak tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shishkhabevov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Shishkhabevov stands up. Shishkhabevov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shishkhabevov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kulak's head. Shishkhabevov showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Shishkhabevov chips away with some ground and pound. Shishkhabevovis looking to pass into half guard but Kulak pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kulak is in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shishkhabevov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kulak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kulak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Shishkhabevov is trying to keep Kulak in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shishkhabevov wants to stand up but Kulak is controlling him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sergei Shishkhabevov dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Shishkhabevov slaps away a takedown attempt from Kulak, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kulak gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Shishkhabevov to score an easy takedown into full guard. Shishkhabevov stands and throws Kulak's legs to the side, diving into side control. Shishkhabevov working the head and body with strikes. Shishkhabevov advances to mount. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Shishkhabevov unloading with bombs!
That's one minute gone in the round. Shishkhabevov putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! The referee warns Kulak that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Shishkhabevov lands a heavy elbow. Shishkhabevov has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kulak's face.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shishkhabevov lands a big elbow. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Shishkhabevov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Shishkhabevov breaks from Kulak's wrist control and lands an elbow. Kulak is bucking up trying to escape but Shishkhabevov cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Shishkhabevov with shots to the head and body - Kulak looks very uncomfortable down there. Shishkhabevov controlling his opponent. Kulak wants to get back to his feet.
Shishkhabevov has control of Kulak's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kulak regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Sergei Shishkhabevov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Shishkhabevov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Kulak tries to kick Shishkhabevov off but Shishkhabevov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Shishkhabevov maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Kulak could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Shishkhabevov has cracked it and Kulak is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Shishkhabevov!
