Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy McGruger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy McGruger!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGruger fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gracie has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Gracie throws a big shot that misses.
Gracie fails with the takedown
and McGruger counters with a low kick, right behind Gracie 's knee.
Gracie takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gracie fails with an attempt to clinch.
Randy McGruger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGruger throws a head kick that misses.
McGruger punishes Gracie's body with a nice straight punch.
A combination from McGruger does no damage.

McGruger closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gracie quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McGruger manages to get himself to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGruger is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gracie can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gracie regains half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McGruger lands a nice short elbow.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gracie tries to get to full guard but McGruger has control of the leg.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McGruger connects with a nice short shot to Gracie's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



McGruger closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gracie on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
McGruger perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gracie is pressing down on McGruger's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
McGruger wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Gracie has his foot on McGruger's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGruger works his way back into a safe position though.

Gracie has his foot on McGruger's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGruger works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gracie is pulling down on McGruger's head. It's preventing any offense from McGruger, at least for the moment.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Randy McGruger wasn't active enough on the ground.
McGruger looks to throw the jab but Gracie is out of range.
McGruger lands with a hook. Gracie tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Bruce Gracie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

McGruger throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
McGruger slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
McGruger looks to score with a jab to the body but Gracie is just out of range.
McGruger throws out a powerful jab.
A decent looking cross lands there for McGruger.
McGruger jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. McGruger tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGruger manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

McGruger takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McGruger content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Gracie is defending against the submission attempts here by McGruger.

McGruger winds up and cracks Gracie with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

McGruger can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Randy McGruger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gracie is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
McGruger scores with a hook to the body. Gracie takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Horrible takedown by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by McGruger which made him look bad.

and McGruger counters with a nice uppercut.
McGruger lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McGruger throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
Gracie throws a big shot that misses.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and McGruger counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McGruger rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

McGruger lands with a good body shot.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McGruger cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

McGruger has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gracie's face.
Gracie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

McGruger is landing with some decent strikes but Gracie is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

McGruger has control of Gracie's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gracie regains control of the situation pretty easily.

McGruger drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick McGruger off! McGruger jumps back into Gracie's guard.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGruger gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McGruger stands and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Well McGruger has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
