The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Roman as Hong shoots in. Roman throws a series of punches but Hong moves out of range. Hong shoots in for a double leg but Roman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hong scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Hong is trying to work for a kimura but Roman is defending well.

Hong works his way into full mount! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hong is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Roman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Roman misses with the body kick and Hong counters with a single leg into guard. Roman didn't expect that. Hong trying to control the position from guard on top but Roman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Roman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hong is controlling him. Hong has his foot on Roman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roman works his way back into a safe position though. Roman trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Hong manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Hong is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hong looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hong trying to control the position from guard on top but Roman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hong sitting in guard here, content to control. Hong stands and throws Roman's legs to the side, diving into side control. Hong is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Roman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hong is trying to get an arm triangle but Roman is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hong is looking to take a break and control but Roman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Roman wants to control but Hong postures up. Hong looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Roman is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hong is controlling him well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice sprawl there from Roman as Hong shoots in. Hong shoots for a takedown but Roman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Roman throws a nice inside leg kick. Roman misses with a wild combination.
Roman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hong tries to avoid it but Roman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hong to the ground. Hong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hong fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yin Hong. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hong.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hong has his takedown stuffed and Roman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Roman slaps away a takedown attempt from Hong, before circling back to the center of the mat. Roman tries to close the distance and clinch but Hong swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Hong with a lazy takedown attempt and Roman counters with a two punch combo. Both fighters are breathing heavily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Roman. Roman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hong. Roman lands with a kick to the ribs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roman shoots in for a double leg but Hong sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hong shoots in but Roman avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hong misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Roman goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Hong dodges the punch combination from Roman.
Hong shoots and misses and Roman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Roman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hong is not content to let Roman control the position. Hong is trying to control Roman's posture but Roman avoids it. Hong wants to get back to his feet but Roman drags him back down. Marcus Roman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

No, Hong has escaped the position, nice work there. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Hong manages to get back to half guard. Hong gets full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Roman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Yin Hong is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hong is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Roman has his hands clasped together but Hong extends an breaks Roman's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hong.
