PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joel Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eatsa Pasta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pasta has chosen Kids by MGMT as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joel Gonzalez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eatsa Pasta!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pasta tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Gonzalez scores with a takedown into Pasta's guard.

Gonzalez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Pasta is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Pasta avoids the head kick by Gonzalez.

Gonzalez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gonzalez showed some decent athleticism there.
Pasta is trying to stand back up but Gonzalez is controlling him

Gonzalez winds up and cracks Pasta with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Gonzalez decides to stand and escape the position.
Gonzalez tries to clinch there but Pasta circles away.

Gonzalez takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Pasta fails with an attempt to clinch.

Pasta doesn't manage to clinch there - Gonzalez circles away.
Gonzalez tries to clinch up but Pasta circles away and keeps his distance.
Pasta scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Eatsa Pasta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gonzalez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gonzalez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gonzalez wants to control from the top but Pasta keeps moving.
Pasta not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gonzalez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pasta is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pasta has escaped and now he's on top!
Pasta has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gonzalez is proving hard to escape from.

Pasta has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Gonzalez works to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gonzalez shoots in and bounces Pasta off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gonzalez wants to control from the top but Pasta keeps moving.

Pasta looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Pasta is looking for a triangle but Gonzalez pushes his legs off easily.

Gonzalez gets to his feet. Pasta looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Pasta tries to clinch up but Gonzalez circles away and keeps his distance.
Pasta is breathing heavily.

Gonzalez drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gonzalez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pasta is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gonzalez, into his guard.
Pasta prevents Gonzalez from getting back to his feet.

Gonzalez looking for a sweep. Not yet Gonzalez, not yet.
Gonzalez is trying to control the position but Pasta postures up.
Gonzalez has a closed guard, preventing Pasta from standing up.

Gonzalez working for submissions but it's allowed Pasta to get to half guard.
Gonzalez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pasta.
Gonzalez gets back to full guard.
Gonzalez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pasta!

Gonzalez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Gonzalez lands a nice shot to the head.

Gonzalez working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Pasta turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Gonzalez off and cradles Pasta's limp body as Gonzalez celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Joel Gonzalez!
