The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Small. No joy for Tatsuhiko Jr on that attempt.
Small throws a hook to the side of Tatsuhiko Jr's head but Tatsuhiko Jr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Small with a nice cross.


It looks like Akihito Tatsuhiko Jr has been cut.
Small misses the jab.

Small does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Small is trying desperately to improve position.
Small is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Tatsuhiko Jr throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Tatsuhiko Jr jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Small manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Tatsuhiko Jr thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Small really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tatsuhiko Jr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Small is looking for a sweep.
Small parries the strikes from Tatsuhiko Jr easily there. Tatsuhiko Jr is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Small to escape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tatsuhiko Jr works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Tatsuhiko Jr sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Small is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Tatsuhiko Jr throws an elbow but Small slips to the side and avoids it well.

Tatsuhiko Jr goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Small has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Tatsuhiko Jr but great work by Small.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Small throws a shot from downtown. Tatsuhiko Jr moves away and avoids it.

A decent looking cross lands there for Small.
Tatsuhiko Jr displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Small throws out the jab.
Tatsuhiko Jr misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Small throws a hook to the side of Tatsuhiko Jr's head but Tatsuhiko Jr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Tatsuhiko Jr throws out a leg kick but Small moves out of range and Tatsuhiko Jr only half commits.

Small tries to clinch but Tatsuhiko Jr moves out of range.

Tatsuhiko Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
