Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Rocha Tycoon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Monty Schill! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rocha Tycoon moves out of range of the body kick from Schill.
Rocha Tycoon throws a sloppy head kick and Schill moves out of range easily. Rocha Tycoon scores with a head kick. Schill tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Schill throws a body kick that misses. Schill shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rocha Tycoon's guard. Schill controls from within his opponent's guard. Schill forces his way into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
It looks like Schill might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Monty Schill. Rocha Tycoon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schill throws a head kick but Rocha Tycoon moves out of range.
Rocha Tycoon misses with a hook. Schill ducked under it nicely. Schill closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rocha Tycoon circles away. Schill closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rocha Tycoon quickly recovers to half guard. Rocha Tycoon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Schill scores with a couple of nice shots. Rocha Tycoon wants to get back to his feet. Rocha Tycoon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schill on the ground. Schill moves nicely into side control. Rocha Tycoon on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
It looks like Julio Rocha Tycoon has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Schill slows the pace down. Let's hope that Schill has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Schill connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Rocha Tycoon some visible discomfort.
Julio Rocha Tycoon's cut is getting worse.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rocha Tycoon is pushing Schill's head away, looking to escape. Schill manages to hold on to the position though. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Schill is putting a hurting on Rocha Tycoon here, landing some big shots from side control.
Julio Rocha Tycoon's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Schill has hold of Rocha Tycoon's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Rocha Tycoon seems comfortable defending it but Schill has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Rocha Tycoon is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Rocha Tycoon is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Schill couldn't care less - he's delighted!
