PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Storm Warning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Hari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Storm Warning!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Hari!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hari keeps the fight on the outside.
Warning closes the distance and clinches up with Hari, looking for a takedown. Warning pushes Hari against the cage but Hari circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hari throws a head kick but Warning moves out of range.
Hari stuffs the takedown.
Warning tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hari manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Warning with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Storm Warning. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Warning tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Hari finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Warning is breathing heavily.
Hari thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Warning if he has to take too many more of those.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hari closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hari throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Warning blocks it with crossed arms.

Hari has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Warning uses from the top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Warning gets to his feet. Hari looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Hari looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Hari jabs Warning to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Hari closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hari lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Warning backwards.

Warning is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hari is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Warning to the mat. Warning regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hari wanted to stand there but Warning had control of the position.
Warning is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hari has his hands clasped together around Warning's back. He's all about the action.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Warning throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Warning content to control rather than advance.
Warning wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hari keeps working.
Warning prevents Hari from standing back up.

Warning stands up and beckons Hari to join him on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hari circles away from the clinch attempt.
Melvin Hari is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice uppercut there from Warning.
Warning shoots in for a takedown but Hari shows good takedown defense.
Warning wants to clinch

and Hari counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hari.
Warning tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hari just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hari pushes Warning back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Warning tries to pull guard but Hari won't allow it.

Hari escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Warning is looking to chop away at Hari's legs.
Warning misses with a body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Warning pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Warning tries to close the distance and clinch but Hari swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Warning is defended easily by Hari.
Hari throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hari clinches.
Hari tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hari breaks from the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Warning misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Warning fails with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Melvin Hari dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Hari rushes Warning and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Hari breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hari throws a head kick that misses.
Hari plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Warning tries for a takedown but Hari sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hari closes the distance and clinches.
Hari avoiding damage.

Hari manages to break the clinch.
Hari thows a body kick. Warning tries to catch it but that hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Warning tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Warning drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Warning controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Warning wants to control from the top but Hari keeps moving.
Warning looking to pass the guard.
Warning trying to control the position from guard on top but Hari is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Storm Warning wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Warning shoots for a takedown but Hari saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Hari closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hari fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Warning tries to pull guard but Hari holds him up against the cage and eventually Warning drops back down to his feet.

Hari pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Melvin Hari seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Warning dives in and grabs Hari's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hari pushes down on Warning's head and hops out.

Hari tries to close the distance and clinch but Warning swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Warning is looking to clinch.

Warning looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hari!

Warning get's back to his feet.
Warning shoots in looking for a takedown. Hari tries to sprawl out of it but Warning keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hari manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hari stuffs the takedown.
Warning throws a sloppy head kick
and Hari counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Hari gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hari lands a left hand that snaps the head of Warning backwards.

Hari pulls guard successfully.
Warning throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hari wants to stand and escape but Warning is having none of it.

Warning avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Melvin Hari will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Warning misses with a takedown attempt - Hari sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Warning shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hari sprawls well. Hari wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Warning gets slowly back to his feet.

Hari leaves Warning with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hari throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Warning.

Warning shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hari as he jumps to the side.

Hari darts in and clinches Warning up against the cage.
Hari is pressed up against the cage. Warning has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hari down to the mat. Hari avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Hari throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hari drives through and clinches with Warning against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hari displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Warning.

Storm Warning is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Warning is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hari sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Warning working over Hari with some ground and pound. Hari looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Warning moves into full mount! Hari won't be happy about that!
Hari really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Warning. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Warning controlling his opponent.
Storm Warning has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Melvin Hari is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hari can do anything to dispel that myth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Warning looking for a guillotine from mount but Hari is having none of it.

Melvin Hari comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hari winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
