Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trevor Hellion! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raino RIll! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hellion tries for a takedown but RIll sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Hellion shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hellion takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
It looks like Trevor Hellion has been cut. Hellion shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as RIll sprawls well. RIll wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hellion gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Hellion. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hellion stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hellion wants it to stay on the feet. RIll moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Hellion feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if RIll can do anything to dispel that myth. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Hellion postures up in RIll's guard and throws a big left but RIll blocks it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. RIll is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Hellion is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! RIll is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! RIll has escaped and now he's on top! RIll content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Hellion has locked up a guillotine! Hellion's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? RIll is holding on here and Hellion must be using up a lot of energy. RIll has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Hellion gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
